I got a referral to the hiring manager from a college professor/current employee. She called me the next day and set me up to interview with the person I ended up working for. The next day i got a call that I was hired.

The intial contact with the company was via email. I was put in contact with a VP about the position via a mutual friend. From there the ball got rolling pretty quickly. Phone Interview, Face to face interview, drug test, inital offer, final offical offer.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in San Diego, CA (took a day)
HR sent an email to confirm receipt of application. Marketing manager followed up within 2 weeks to schedule an interview. The interview was very casual and was conversational, she just wanted to know more about me and why I wanted an internship with NBC San Diego. The manager was very friendly and the office was very nice (located in downtown San Diego). Didn't get the internship but would definitely apply again.
