Interviewed Jan 2012 in Austin, TX (took 3 months)
Phone interview - looking for knowledge specific to my job
On-site interview in Austin - mix of general knowledge, specific questions about memory and lots of questions about scopes and jitter measurements
On-site interview in CA - similar to Austin interview. They flew me out for about 36 hours to talk to 4 team members. This was good because I was considering moving to CA and I was glad that I got to see it first, because I stayed in Austin.
I was an interviewer at my old job, so I asked dozens of other people the kinds of questions that they asked me, so I think I breezed through it.

They asked what I made. I did not tell them what I made, but I said: "This is the amount for which I will leave my current company." Using glassdoor, I knew what the range was for this position, and I aimed a little higher than average. Also, I told them that I had a sizeable amount of RSUs. They matched what I asked for for salary and beat my current unvested RSU amount. I was very happy with the benefits package.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Austin, TX (took a day)
Applied to an online job posting and was contacted by the hiring manager for a phone interview. Phone interview went well. A few basic technical questions, but nothing too hard.
A couple of weeks later, I was flown out for an on-site interview, where I met the hiring manager and several engineers. A few technical questions were asked (basic trivia-type questions, no problem solving), but nothing too difficult and certainly not enough to accurately gauge my abilities. The hiring manager was personable and pleasant. However, one of the engineers I spoke with was hostile, arrogant, and rude. I left thinking I probably wouldn't be offered the job. Overall, I was not impressed with nvidia. Few things are more irritating to me than a programmer with a god complex.
Was contacted a week and a half later and told I wasn't selected. Good.

Interviewed Aug 2007 in Austin, TX (took 2 days)
My first interview was over the phone. It was a general inquiry into what I was interested in so they could see where I may fit in the company. It lasted no longer than 30 minutes. I was told at the end that they were going to give me a small assignment to test my programming skills, which I was e-mailed shortly thereafter and told I had two days to implement two C functions. The "homework" was not difficult but also not trivial.
I had a second phone interview with an employee local to the area in which I was applying. We spoke for perhaps 45 minutes, again addressing where my talents and interests would best fit with the company's needs. There may have been a few short technical questions such as "What is polymorphism?" just to establish that I really knew my stuff. The interviewer told me he'd get me an in person interview with a team in the particular development area in which I had the most interest.
I reviewed the (somewhat esoteric) material that I had studied in graduate school in preparation for this unique in-person interview. When I arrived, I soon discovered that I was not interviewing with the group I was told I would be, and instead was partnered with a device driver developer. He proceeded to ask me many technical questions focusing mostly in low level C programming and some questions on programming theory, which I was completely unprepared for. The questions were pretty standard interview questions and were not that difficult. The interviewer was somewhat rude and impatient when I started struggling with one of the programming questions. This miscommunication somewhat soured the otherwise positive interviewing experience for me. All other interviewers and HR persons were very amicable and enjoyable to speak with.
