I applied online and the process took 4 months - interviewed at Navigant Consulting in November 2013.

Interview Details – Applied via Navigant website. Contacted by recruiter a few days later. Manager Interview scheduled shortly after HR interview. Contacted again for final interview. All "seemed" to be very good towards a potential offer. Was told a decison would be made within a couple of days. Interviews went well, although they are VERY slow in responding or getting back to you, if at all. Never heard anything back. Accepted another offer.

Interview Question – No difficult questions if you're applying for a job that matches your skillset.   Answer Question

The most important aspect of the interview is just being a good fit in the company and being open to a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Senior Consultant Interview

Senior Consultant
Chicago, IL

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Navigant Consulting in March 2013.

Interview Details – Submitted application online, heard back almost immediately. From there, the process escalated quickly. Immediately set up a HR screening which was pretty high level, obviously trying to make sure my background complemented the position. Two days later, had a phone interview with a manager which contained more targeted questions. Heard back within a couple days to schedule an on-site interview.

This on-site interview was extremely thorough. I met with 6 members of the team (non-HR). It seemed each interviewer had a specific category of questions, different from the others. About 20% of the time was spent "selling" the company.

The interview included 2 business cases and a quant case. The cases were not lofty (read: not "how many ping pong balls can fit in a 747") they were very specific to the practice. The quant case wasn't anything too math intensive, but instead tested my comfort level with the data, ability to interpret results, and critical thinking.

The entire thing took about 6 hours, which included a 30 minute break and a 30 minute lunch.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I'm glad they were as thorough as they were.

Interview Question – What would cause you to leave consulting/Navigant?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – HR's offer was pretty close to my salary requirement. Ended up matching without any difficult negotiation.

Analyst Interview

Analyst
Chicago, IL

I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at Navigant Consulting in November 2012.

Interview Details – I was contacted one day prior to the interview that the company was interested in my experience. I was given less than 24 hours to prepare for the interview. When I arrived I was escorted into a room of three current analysts/consultants who were young, new hires. This was very informal. For the next portion of the interview, I was ushered into another room where the senior consultant asked standard interview questions: tell me about yourself, why do you think you'd be appropriate for this position, etc. Finally, I was interviewed by the leaving analyst. This was as informal as the first round.

Interview Question – The most unexpected question the interviewer inquired was "This is obviously not your ideal end job. What do you see yourself doing in the future?"   Answer Question
