Interviewed May 2012 in Lisle, IL (took 2 weeks)
First was an "interview" by the recruiter but this was more of a conversation than a interview. Asked me simple questions such as what I was interested in and if I would like to Navistar etc. I did not really have a phone interview and instead proceeded to go to a face to face group interview with 3 managers. They were very nice and only asked basic behavioral questions.
Negotiation Details
I considered negotiating but the offer was already good, more than I expected.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview and a Group/Panel Interview.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Lisle, IL (took a day)
Two engineering managers interviewed me individually. This is not even normal for Navistar because I was hired with a group of roughly 200+ engineers.
Negotiation Details
There was no negotiation. Do not be afraid to ask for a starting bonus and relocation bonus.
Other Details
I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview and a Personality Test.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Warrenville, IL (took a day)
The first contact was a phone call from HR with a follow-up/confirmation via email.
The actual interview was with the dept manager and director - - 2 on 1. They both brought beverages into the small conference room, did not offer me a beverage nor did they offer to take my coat or a place to hang it up. The mgr said nothing while the director peppered me with questions for almost an hour, giving me no opportunity to ask questions of my own when the mgr declared time was up. Some of the questions were relating to a position I held 25 years ago (when the director was in grammar school). It was either a test of my memory or an exercise in humiliation.
It was made emphatically clear that I was to wait for further contact from HR (read: don't call us, we'll call you).
This is Navistar's m.o.
Four gallons of gas, $6 in tolls and 3 hours of my life wasted on rude people. My theory is if an employer doesn't treat you well as an interviewee when they're trying to woo you, it certainly won't treat you well as an employee.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Lisle, IL (took a day)
Had 1 hr long panel interview that consisted of all behavioral type questions. It was a very strict and direct interview, there wrote down all my answers.
I feel like I could have done a better job on answering the questions asked.
Note for future candidates, practice and ace the STAR interview technique. It is essential for Navistar Interviews.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Melrose Park, IL (took a day)
Relatively easy interview. Initial interview portion was a panel interview with questions more pertaining to my experience rather than typical "tell us about a time when you _______." After answering a few questions they really began showing me around the place as if I already accepted the offer and was planning to start the next day. I was extended an offer a few days later, but declined after my current employer intervened and gave me a counter offer to stay with them.

Interviewed May 2011 in Melrose Park, IL (took 2 weeks)
I was contacted by a hiring manager after applying online. I had a phone interview when he called and he asked about my skills and interests. He said he would contact me again in a few days to set up an interview. He never called so I called him and we arranged to have my fly out for an interview. I flew to Chicago, had the interview the same day which lasted about 1.5 hours and flew home. I was contacted at the end of the next week.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Lisle, IL (took 2 days)
Interview is a well organized. Many candidates Interviewed on that day . Suppose a Major hiring event.
Phone screening , followed by a Inperson interview with 2 hiring managers for 2 rounds of interview.
Managers were very technical and highly savvy. Questions were mainly behavioral and what if scenarios.
Offered was given out same day for Many candidates. Declined offer
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Offer was ok but Not great, Very little information shared about location, relocation specifics your reporting department , supervisor. etc. to make final call. Information sharing overall could be made better to influence a more positive experience on the overall interview process.
Other Details
I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Lisle, IL (took a day)
Interview process was pretty smooth. Got call from recruiter in February. Asked behavioral type questions and some questions regarding my current role. I was then schedued for a 1:1 interview in March in Lisle,IL. Seemed like it was a mass recruting session as there were several other candidates. Interviews were setup in groups. Interview candidates were Interviewed by 2 people (at a time). Took about an hour to complete. Results and Offers were communicated the same day in about 20 minutes.

Negotiation Details
Negotiation was limited to one time discussion. Negotiation was possible. However, after accepting the offer, the Background / Drug screening took about 2 weeks. This was the most tiring portion of the hiring process. Especially knowing that you have the job but then it all boils down to Background / Drug test results - which took about 2 weeks. These checks are carried out by a third party company. I must have checked my emailed about 5 times daily for those 2 weeks. Never must have tested my Patience so much. I wish this last bit of Background / Drug screening would not be stretched so much.
