Product Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through a recruiter and the process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in January 2011.
Interview Details – After I applied online, I got a call from the recruiting agency. At the end of that call she scheduled a date for an in-person interview at Chicago.
There were many people being interviewed that day for a number of different positions. I had a series of three interviews with three different managers and got an offer the same day before I left. Quite a few of others being interviewed also got their offer letters the same day.
- Describe the time in your professional or personal life when you were faced with a challenging situation and how did you deal with it? Answer Question
- I was also asked to rate my skill levels for the various technical aspects of my job. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – My offer was reasonable and inline with my expectations. However when I broached the subject, I was told that the base salary is non-negotiable. So be sure to be upfront with your salary expectations.
Once I accepted the offer, there was little or no communication from my recruiter. I had to repeatedly email them to get information.
Sales Internship Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
The process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in January 2011.
Interview Details – 1 Hour with two HR reps asking me alternating questions. All behavioral questions. Left me little time to ask about the position and zero feedback afterwards.
Interview Question – Describe a situation where there was a dysfunctional group dynamic and you overcame the situation Answer Question
Organizational Change Management Consultant Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through a staffing agency and the process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in December 2010.
Interview Details – This was a contract - temp position. Was interviewed by 3 managers over dinner. Was not a very good interview location since it was in public and very hard to hear everyone at the table. I felt early during the interview that this position was not a good fit for me since the job pertained to a major re-organizational shift in which the company was going to be laying off 1000's of employees and outsourcing their IT and operations groups to a 3rd party supplier and the employees in these 2 groups have already been notified and that there is alot of unrest and anger over managements decision. I was not selected for the position which is probably for the best considering the situation and current organizational climate/culture.
Interview Question – If you requested something from someone and were not getting any response, how would you handle the situation? Answer Question
Control Systems Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Navistar in August 2010.
Interview Details – The interview was pretty fast. Guess they were urgent to find one fill the position. The interviewer asked several general questions. I failed for another interview from another company before this one, but I prepared well for this one. The key point for interview is to make other people understand your past work even though they didn't know it well. i did that for this interview.

International Business Intern Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through college or university and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Navistar in June 2010.
Interview Details – Initially, I applied to Navistar through my university career connections site. It took a while (about a month) for Navistar HR to contact me. I first had a phone interview, and then I had an in-person second round with several employees.
Interview Question – Have you ever had to deal with ambiguous information in a job, and how did you deal with it? Answer Question

Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through a recruiter and the process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in January 2008.
Interview Details – The interview was scheduled in advance but the one of the interviewers couldn't make it so was only interviewed by hiring manager. Manager seemed very interested and engaged in the department. However, the company recruiter was very demanding and pushy.
Senior Financial Analyst Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
The process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in November 2008.
Interview Details – The interview process is very formalized. You need to build a connection with the managers as a cultural/personality fit is really important as well as a proper technical fit.

Sales Operations Leadership Development Program (SOLD) Interview (Negative Experience; Difficult Interview)
The process took a day - interviewed at Navistar in February 2010.
Interview Details – Learned of this position through the campus career center. Went to an information session the night prior to the interview. The interview as quite intimidating. I've never been grilled like that before. It was a one on one interview with the manger of the Sales Operation Leadership Development program (SOLD). Proceeded to ask very particular questions and would also question my answers and say, "Well, why didnt you do this?" or "Did you consider this?...Why not?" At times I felt it went in circles. He was a tad rude, or that may just have been his cynical nature. He said someone would contact me that very night if I had received a second round interview or not. No reply. Emailed the next day and still no reply.
Interview Question – What is the hardest aspect of selling for you? View Answer
