It's definitely a challenging process but it's designed to be that way to recruit the best candidates for the Executive Development Program. During and after the 12 week program, you get placed in Assistant Buyer positions throughout various areas of the company.

I first had a phone interview with the HR Manager and then flew to Dallas to interview with several buyers.
Once in Dallas the interviews probably took about 1/2 a day.

Contacted by HR contact and made an appointment for an interview with her 1-on-1. She was super nice and answered all my questions. Definitely made me feel at ease. I passed that interview and she invited me for a second interview with the department manager and her assistant. This interview was more tough and focused on my selling techniques and how I would achieve my sales goal. She was not warm and friendly, which I liked. At least she was honest about the nature of the sales goal and commission based work. I didn't get a call back that week, so I assumed I didn't get the job.
However, a month later, HR calls me saying there's another position available and they would like to offer it to me. I decline as I have found another job.

I was hired through the college recruiting program, immediately starting in the Executive Development Program. There is a 1 on 1 interview as well as a 2 day "Assessment" in Dallas, which consists of more interviews, a dinner, and a group project.

Neiman Marcus came to my school to recruit for the Executive Development Program. There was an information session about the program and then we had to apply online and take a timed aptitude test. Then there was a one on one interview with the recruiter which asked basic questions about experience and interest in retail. After the interview, they flew me out to Dallas for an interview, which included a city tour of Dallas, dinner with the other interviewees and buyers, an in basket interview session which is a timed test which you later review your answers and reasoning with a NM executive, group projects, and a drug test. Overall, they were very thorough and professional.

Once I was referred, I was asked to fill out an on-line application, then was scheduled for an in person interview by the department manager. Once she/he approved, was scheduled to interview with the merchandise manager, and HR manager, followed by background check, credit check and drug test. The offer then was made by the HR manager

Online application and then received call back. Interviewed with the lead of the department. Very easy going fun interview. Very comfortable. Asked the typical interview questions. Second interview was with HR manager. She was very awkward. Couldn't tell if she liked me or not. Felt very uncomfortable as far as facial expressions and responses I got back. She asked the same questions and a little bit more about experience. Got an offer and then submitted to background check, drug test and then credit check. After everything I still didn't feel as though I got the position because of the awkward interview, but I did. Turns out, that was just her personality.
