Interviewed Nov 2011 in Los Angeles, CA (took 2 months)
I first had one 1:1 interview at my university, which lasted about 30 minutes. My interviewer, a Senior Analyst, asked about quantitative and qualitative work I had done. The interviewer also provided more information about the position and was very pleasant.
Within 2 weeks, I was invited to interview at my 1st choice office location and was instructed to provide 2 letters of recommendation. I had 1:1 interviews with all of the senior staff. They were all friendly and asked basic questions about my resume and a couple about my transcript. Some also talked a lot about the work more than asking me questions.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in White Plains, NY (took a day)
Six 1:1 meetings with VP's and SVP's; most are enthusiastic in describing the work of NERA to me and how it differs from other economic consulting firms. No tough questions on my research or my economic knowledge at all. Eager in prompting me to ask questions about the firm. Lunch presentation of job market paper, in front of people eating catered food with real silverware at a long conference table. The whole day starts at 9:30am and ended before 4pm; no formal dinner. Definitely the shortest and easiest fly-out interview I had been to.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
The interview process was pretty laid back. Be prepared to talk about your writing sample, one of the interviewers literally spend 30 minutes grilling my writing sample. Case studies were on options back dating and the other one was on inside trading.

Interviewed Jan 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Started out with 1:1 interviews with 4 different consultants in the first round. It was not a very technical round, with a couple of excel spreadsheet analyses and case studies and a couple of more general fit-type interviews. The second round, which happened about 20 days later, consisted of more technical interviews including one where there were many questions on econometrics, a few questions on market reaction/event studies, a very technical set on probability, permutations/combinations and some more general fit-type questions.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
I had a five one on one interviews.
Two of them were purely "fit" and resume interviews, which I was asked the typical questions ("Why do you want to work at NERA?", questions about things on my resume, etc.). They are particularly interested in past research that you have done. I was asked very specific questions, so make sure that you know your research in and out. When I was explaining one of my papers, I was stopped every time I used a term that was not self-evident and asked to explain that term.
One interview was a spreadsheet analysis, in which I was asked to find mistakes on a spreadsheet. This part was very easy. Many of the mistakes were not just research related. Some of them were simply typos but they want you to notice those as well. I was then asked how I could weaken the argument that was being made, given the mistakes that I found.
The other two interviews were case studies. One was based on a group realizing that research which went into figuring out how to price an insurance policy was flawed. I was then asked various questions about how issuance policies are priced. The interviewer was a very vague and, intstead of asking for answers, beat around the bush. At one point he wanted me to explain the time value of money but asked questions that had nothing to do with it. The second case study was about the mispricing and misrating of mortgage backed securities. This study was better but the interviewer was still very vague about what he was looking for.
