Interviewed Jan 2010 in Sunnyvale, CA (took 2+ weeks)
Received a lead from a former co-worker about the opening, and was able to obtain an internal referral from a colleague who put me in contact with the HR manager for the position. The HR Manager sent me a questionnaire via e-mail with specific questions related to the job requirements. I submitted a targeted resume and the completed questionnaire in application for the position. After a round of phone interviews, I was brought on site for another round of interviews. Had a very good rapport with some of the interviewers, but not with all of them.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA (took 4 days)
The interview process was very smooth. First round consisted of a 15 minute phone interview where I was asked questions about what I was doing. Then I was invited on site for an 1 hr 15 minute interview between 3 different people. First guy told me about the job. Second guy asked me about my projects and went into more detail about the job. The third guy asked me questions such as "Why do you want to work here"? All in all, it wasn't that bad of an interview.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA (took a day)
Good fair practices, very comfortable environment -- even for an intervieweee. The questions covered a wide range of issues from systems designs to general thinking and debugging. The interviewers was a mix of engineers and managers -- but all of them knew what they were talking about! The work place is great, with a wonderful cafe with lots of selection of foods etc. The work positions and your responsibilities were very well-defined -- i think that is something unique since many places tell you "X" and you end up doing "Y". Overall, most employees were very happy and satisfied with their responsibilities.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA (took a day)
I was invited to the onsite Discover NetApp hiring event, which consisted of a lunch and 5 interviews with different departments and hiring managers. They offered travel expenses (gas reimbursement, flight arrangements, and hotels).
After the lunch with all 13 internship candidates and some new grad hires, we were led into a conference room, where we stayed the entire day and interviewers came to us. We had 15 minute breaks between interviews.
Each interviewer had his/her own interviewing style. Some explained what their department does, others only asked questions about my experience and resume, and about half of them asked coding questions. Coding questions were on data structures: linked lists, binary search trees (and traversing them with postorder and inorder), and hash tables. I also received questions on File IO. There was a whiteboard available if we wished to code on it, however, most were satisfied with a verbal pseudocode. Interviewers were sometimes difficult to understand with their thick accents.
Most of the candidates, including me, received offers the same day of the interview.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA (took a day)
Went to Discover Netapp day which is an event they invite potential candidates onto their campus for interviews. Had a casual lunch for an hour and spoke with people who work there. They were pretty friendly. Then it was interviews with 5 teams. Interviews were easy in my opinion, especially the technical questions. If you couldn't answer them, then I don't think you can get an internship anywhere. Some interviews with the team were only behavioral whereas some were a mix of behavioral and technical. Got an offer that night.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Sunnyvale, CA (took 3+ weeks)
I was referred to NetApp by a business associate. I was then contacted by their internal recruiter and a series of telephone interviews followed. I was not local to their area, but had I been local I believe the last 3 interviews would have been in person. I had a lot of experience for some aspects of the role, but because a lot of it would be new to me I was not surprised I was not made an offer. Everybody was very nice, very professional, and offered good information about their experience working there, and what the role would entail.
- Initial phone screen with internal HR representative
- 6 telephone interviews over the course of 8-10 days
- 15 days after my last interview I was contacted and informed they decided to go with another candidate.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Sunnyvale, CA (took 3 days)
Because I worked there before, I only met with the Director of Staffing since he was new. Normally the process would consist of a phone interview for 30 minutes and an onsite interview with about 3-4 people. The only advice is to be yourself and be honest.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Sunnyvale, CA (took a day)
The interview itself wasn't hard, they asked general questions (how to find least common denominator, a brainteaser). The hard part was dealing with the recruiters. I had a pending job offer so they promised I'd know by the following Monday. On Monday they promised they'd tell me on Wednesday. On Wednesday they swore I would know by Thursday, and on Thursday they absolutely told me I would know Friday. A month later, still no reply. The way they dealt with me was incredibly unprofessional. I don't recommend going through the interview process if not knowing results stresses you out.
