Interviewed Aug 2011 in San Diego, CA (took a day)
Most bizarre interview I ever had. First guy (potential boss) I talked to was busy making airport and car reservations on his computer for his daugher. He would ask something and then turn to the monitor, clicking around while I answered. He took a cell phone call during our "talk" and also talked to some people passing by in the hall a few times. He still hadn't finished making his reservations by the end of the "interview".
From there, went to talk to a peer manager. He seemed very uncomfortable and not at all enthusiastic about the interview (maybe he wanted the same position?). He asked a few questions about Agile and did not appear to like my answers. Then he went straight to a programming puzzle type question which I fumbled because at this point I was very rattled by the whole process. After that, he said "okay, we're done" and showed me the door. I was glad to get out of there and the solution to the puzzle came to me in the elevator.
Truly the most bizarre interview I've ever had.

Interview process was professional and very well handled. HR team did an excellent job in communicating and coordinating all meetings, everyone was was on time and engaged, I got to meet a wide range of people who both asked questions as well as answered mine. I was very impressed with the process and all of the people.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 2+ weeks)
Multiple interviews. Many questions. Tried to sell me on the company and the position. The actual Job was not the same as the interview Job description. They never mentioned that only 2 of 80 sales people made plan. They never mentioned the high Turn Over rate. Never mentioned the 12 + hours per day of work. never mentioned the boiler room culture and job threatening environment.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Sterling, VA (took 7 weeks)
Based on the job requirement the role seemed straight forward on phone interview, but once I was in the office interviewing it seemed most people were trying to avoid the assignment, including the individual, who was temporarily doing it, as they admitted they wished the company would hire somebody so they could dump the tasks. Oddly the hiring manager told me the benefits were "poor". With that initial interview I decided it was best to not pursue, but I was called, twice, to come back in to meet with executives. It appears either they were considering me for another role or the initial role had changed, but neither time was a new job req produced or at least thumbnailed. After a series of puzzling/disheartening comments about the culture and workplace by different executives I was glad there was no further follow-up.

Interviewed Apr 2008 (took 3 weeks)
After a phone interview and an in-person interview they let me know they were interested however'; had a few more people to talk to. I followed up for two weeks being told they were still in the process only to never hear back from them.
I felt they could have more direct with the candidates as well as would never have accepted due to their culture.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Sterling, VA (took 2 weeks)
interview process was very fast! The VP was & still is very interested in moving forward with me. Unfortunately 2 candidates were ahead of me for both opportunities and local so they went forward with them. Post notification the VP offered to keep me in mind for future opportunities over the next quarter and actually did it! I hope that things work out there.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Sterling, VA (took 2 weeks)
Hiring process was fast as incumbent was offered another position within the company. I was referred by someone I knew at my current firm to the external recruiter who was hired to fill the position. I was screened(over the phone) by the recruiter for match, salary, interest etc. This was followed up by Phone interview with hiring manager. When he was convinced about the interest and match, I was called in for a full day of 1:1 interviews. I think I met with 7 people 1:1 including incumbent, hiring manager and HR Manager for the group. Most of the interviews were about my resume, interests and reason's for looking for a new opportunity. HR person wanted me to give clear indication of my salary requirements. I was told from start that the move will be lateral and I was fine with that. It was a comfortable setting overall and everyone was frank about good and not so good about the job. I was provided feedback by recruiter the next day. Then I was told that the job has to be posted internally for a week before they can move forward. It was a bit of a surprise as no one was aware of this issue before, but it was handled well by the recruiter.
After the internal requirement was completed, I was asked to come and meet with SVP/Head of the Business Unit. That meeting was short and sweet. It was just a meeting to make me feel wanted. Everyone I met was nice and they made me feel comfortable. In terms of culture, I think it is a good place to work with motivated employees. Most employees I met mentioned that they work long hours (50+ hours a week), but they were noy complaining, so I think overall it is a good mix. The salary and benefits package is good and balanced.
Overall, the process was quick and I was treated well.

Reason for Declining
I decided to stay at my current firm because I thought it is better to stick with the people who know me and trust me especially in this tough economic environment where one can be let go on LIFO basis. As it was a lateral move there was not much of an economic incentive to move and severance package at NeuStar was nonexistent for me to take risk in this environment.
