Interviewed Sep 2011 in Fort Collins, CO (took a day)
Initial perception of the company seemed positive but that's where it ended. At first you are led to believe that there is only 1 recruiter in the office which handles setting up interviews. Later on I found out that there are many recruiters around the country working for Nimsoft but none of them really know what each other is doing as in which positions are avaliable or unavailable. In other words, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Case in point, my friend was hired on for a position in which only 1 was available. Then, 2 weeks later another recruiter talks to me about the same position which has already been filled (even sends me the job description). All the while I'm thinking, this is rediculous. Never heard from her again! Go figure.
In the beginning, I had a phone screen with the 1st recruiter and oh please learn how to do this in such a way that you get upfront experience questions cleared with the hiring managers. Totally they missed the boat here. She set me up for an interview that was bound for failure since it was not at all clear about what I was even interviewing for. Needless to say, it was difficult to prepare for an interview where your not sure what you would be hired for.
Ok back to the interview its self. I'm walking in thinking ... wow this seems like a very nice office to work in. Then. there was no one was there to meet me at the door for my arrival. I could not even get to the reception area because of security. So I rang the bell. Someone asked who are you here to see. The recruiter finally came out to the reception area where by the way there was no receptionist. I was led back to a conference room where I went through the process of interviewing 1:1 with 4 people. The 1st person was very nice but seemed to be more interested in who I knew from his past employer and not me. Finally it got going and I was asked to describe a system I was currently working on. I felt that it went fairly well.
Next the 2nd person came in and for some reason got off on talking about layoffs in his last company. Then he totally disconnected by asking how I would resolve a personality conflict with another employee. Oh my gosh. Can we please get on topic here. Then he asked me who I was supposed to see next. You got to be kidding I said to myself. You don't know?
The next person asked about my specific experience in an area for which I was supposedly going to be hired for. These questions could have been asked up front in the phone screen by the recruiter if they thought I didn't have enough experience after answering them. The last guy came and he asked some very good questions which I was able to answer affectively. Very kind; offering me a soda and a bio break, just to make me feel at home. What a joke! I might as well have been.
Well that was it. I waited over 2 weeks and ended up calling the recruiter to find out what happened. She said my experience was to broad and not focussed enough on what they were looking for. Again, like another person said on here, if you don't have exactly what there looking for, your wasting your time. Of course it was not clear what I was interviewing for exactly any way. So I had prepared in a broad way.
If you've worked for HP or Agilent in this town for any number of years, your probably a shoe in here since that's where the majority of the people seem to have come from. My advice is to stay away unless your prepared to waste alot of time and energy! You talk about chaotic and disorganized; this is it. Until they get their interviewing process together, just forget it!

Nimsoft is a start-up type atmosphere even though CA owns the company. Nimsoft is growing fast, and is looking for the best fit to make their goals happen on time. If you don't like the roller coaster atmosphere of a growing company, stay on your merry-go-round. I prefer the roller coaster.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took a day)
I had an interview with a hiring manager. S/he got really hung up on a detailed technical question and totally missed the big picture. We had a total disconnect for some reason. S/he refused to listen to any of the relevant experience I had which so closely matched their product line. Interview was scheduled with very short notice - a warning sign of how they operate!!! I would not recommend this company to work for based on how I was treated as a candidate.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in San Jose, CA (took 4 weeks)
Interviewing process was long and drawn out. Finally met with two hiring managers and they were not very personable. Just not good chemistry. They didn't seem very excited about the opportunity or their company.

The manager asked questions about technical skills. Basically a cool place to work but the require the exact skills that are in the job posting. If you don't have one skill you are out.
