Interviewed Jan 2012 in Denver, CO (took 4 weeks)
I turned in an application online. A few days later I got an email saying they wanted to schedule a phone interview. Talked on the phone and then scheduled a 1:1 interview. Went to the 1:1 interview and it was like a group interview because everyone was in the same room, but each candidate was with their own interviewer. After you talked with the interviewer, they took you out to the floor and gave a scenario.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Denver, CO (took a day)
Asked normal questions:
How how you dealt with diversity in the workplace? Have you ever encountered a difficult situation with a customer, and how did you handle it? Why do you want to work with Nordstrom?
The interview was over phone, however the position I applied for was a full-time position and at the end of the phone interview, the woman asked me if I wanted to come in and discuss the specifics of the position and mentioned that it was only going to be 10-15 hours a week in the beginning. At that point I told her I needed something with more hours and basically declined the second interview.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Denver, CO (took 3 weeks)
The hiring process for this position began with searching from CA online with the Nordstrom career center. I got a phone interview for the Designer Sales position, i selected a time and date through an online process.
That day I had an nice conversation with a lady form HR. She asked questions like; "why do I want to work for Nordstrom's?, How do you feel about working on commission?,How do you compare yourself to others in your workplace? and What is your availability?" I was nervous since I had not interviewed in about a year, but she was nice and asked in the end when I would like to come in for a 1:1 interview...that is in a week. The position that I had applied for was not available but she said that the Savvy department was in 2 different locations. She also noted that she had seen all the positions that I had applied for an would let me know about any other department if needed.
I feel good but was so nervous for one questions,(that I flubbed) I hope to be better for the 1:1.
Wish me luck

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Littleton, CO (took 1+ week)
I will have to say that Nordstrom's hiring process is very quick and efficient. I applied online and two days later I received an email invitation to have an initial phone interview. I then went online and picked a date which was two days out and had my phone interview. The lady that called me was very nice and professional. Her questions consisted of "Why do you want to work for Nordstroms?" "Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?" "What is your availability?". Of course I accepted a date for a formal interview. I met with a few other candidates at the customer service area. All of the existing employees were very friendly and asked and shook all of or hands. We were then led to a room with chairs with pamphlets and had a seat. All of the current managers introduced themselves very friendly and shared their individual experiences with the company. We then watched a short video explaining the background of the company and current employee experiences. It was very pleasant to watch. I could feel the positivity coming from everyone in the room as well as from the video! After the video we then all went and had interviews with two Dept managers in two different settings. The questions were all very clear and formal! make sure that you have exact experiences relating to the position your applying for and shine! They may ask you what dept you are looking to work in.. just because you applied for a certain position online doesn't mean that is the one you will get! so be prepared! Also, I would highly recommend dressing to impress at the interview. Nordstroms is a fashion store! have fun and stand out! i know i was fierce! :o) Anyways I am shocked to have read some of the negative responses in the other section from employees who have worked there. I am excited and enthusiastic to be apart of the company and cant wait to start! and who doesn't love having a discount! woohoo! All in all..be yourself..do your research...be positive and have fun..and they will see that!

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Denver, CO (took 1 week)
I started out applying for Nordstrom online which consisted of a normal application along with numerous questions about yourself at the end. Then I received a phone call from HR and had a phone interview with questions such as why do you want to work here, how will you generate sales. Then they asked me to come in to meet with them in person for a final interview

Interviewed Jun 2009 in Denver, CO (took 1+ week)
I had a phone interview beings I was out of town, Very short and breif. The manager was reading of a paper for questions and clearly taking notes. I felt very odd with the interview over the phone. I then went in to meet the department manager, this was very informal and we just chatted.
