Interviewed Jan 2012 in Denver, CO (took 4 weeks)
I turned in an application online. A few days later I got an email saying they wanted to schedule a phone interview. Talked on the phone and then scheduled a 1:1 interview. Went to the 1:1 interview and it was like a group interview because everyone was in the same room, but each candidate was with their own interviewer. After you talked with the interviewer, they took you out to the floor and gave a scenario.

Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 4+ weeks)
Initially I applied online for the internship in 2 separate locations. I got a call from the first location about my application about a few days after I applied. I told them that I was interested in the 1st location. He said that, that particular location will then contact me in a few weeks. I then was directed to schedule a Phone Interview. The phone interview went really well and was offered to come in for the 1:1. The 1:1 went OK, I’ve done better, I was slightly nervous. She then calls back about a month later with an Offer!

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 weeks)
I was out of town so all of my interviews were over the phone. I had to go through 3 interviews before I was offered the position. The first one was with a company that they hire just to weed people out. It lasted about 30 min. It was generic questions... describe an outstanding customer service, how would you handle an angry customer, etc. My second interview was with the Human resources assistant manager. It was pretty easy. More generic questions. There was one that was hard though,,, i was asked to role play on the phone and sell her a pair of shoes. Its hard to sell sometihng that doesnt actually exist. Third was with HR manager, and fourth with store manager. The last two were extremely short... I think if you make it to the last two your pretty much in.. just be friendly and sound enthusiastic about Nordstrom and their culture.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Oak Brook, IL (took 4+ weeks)
The interview process for the internship was really easy. It was just like an interview for a regular sales job at nordstrom. They ask you about leadership questions, put an outfit together, where you can see yourself in the company. You interview with HR then a department manager

Interviewed Mar 2011 in San Diego, CA (took 3 weeks)
It was pretty straight forward interview. Mine was 1:1 with HR in both interviews.
Mostly what they care about is if you are energetic, having strong communication skills, selling skills and etc. Interview questions are behavior, such as, how do you handle conflict, teamwork experience, hw you demonstrate your leadership skills, how to convince someone, what do you see yourself in 5 years. They also care about past retail experience, or teaching experience. Make sure that you convey your strong client service spirits and that you are goal-oriented. Good luck!

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
Scheduled a phone interview with the recruiter- she was very nice. My answers were far too long, yet I still moved onto the next round (they tell you on the spot). Make sure you have your location preferences handy! I then went into the store for a 1:1 interview with HR, which also went well. They just ask behavioral questions and see if you are competent. In hindsight, i interviewed very poorly but still got the offer.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Canoga Park, CA (took 3 days)
I met the company's recruiter at a Career Fair at my university. From there I had a phone conversation with her for her to just to get to know me. I then applied online and had a two stage interview process. Both interviews were done over the phone and asked a lot of behavioral and situational questions.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Thousand Oaks, CA (took 4+ weeks)
I applied online at the beginning of January, got a phone call from their internship recruiter. Had a 1:1 interview with one of the department managers of the store. It was very easy and straight forward. She asked me about my background and I was asked how I would sell an item I had picked out from the floor.
