I applied online and the process took 5 days - interviewed at Nordstrom.
Interview Details – About a 5 day process. Applied online and was called to come in for an interview in their trend fashion department. Basic questions about experience, customer service, commission, and teamwork. The second interview consisted of a styling exercise. I was given a certain type of customer (30 yrs. old, weekend attire, size, etc.) and had 5 minutes to gather at least 4 outfits that exceeded a price. Then I had to assemble them in a dressing room and explain why I chose them and how I would sell them to the customer. A little bit nerve-racking but as long as you go with your gut and think on your feet it's fun! At the end of the interview however, they told me that the trend department job had been filled (during my interview apparently???) but a position in the jewelry department was available. Of course I agreed to interview for that as well but I found that very unprofessional and the jewelry interview very lackluster in retrospect.
Interview Question – How would you deal with the competition in your department for commission and how would you handle commission from a customer if they wanted to move onto another department? Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Nordstrom.
Interview Details – Applied online and was contacted by HR about 3 days later. HR called me and it was sort of a mini-interview, just asking what my availability was like and why I want to work for Nordstrom. When you pass that, they'll ask you to come in for a 1:1 interview. I was interviewed by another person in HR. The interview was about half an hour: she just told me more about the position I was applying for and then asked the usual questions like what my availability was like for the month, describe a time you worked on a team, describe a difficult situation and how you overcame it, and what is necessary for a team to work well. I was contacted the next Monday and was offered the position!

Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Nordstrom in June 2014.
Interview Details – Applied online, a recruiter called the house not long after- I'd been in the same position at a different company for years, so it was a breeze. Recruiter called from the west coast, tried to get a hold of the district manager. Never got a hold of him even though she said I passed with flying colors. Resorted to sending my infer to the district manager as a last effort. 3 weeks later. No rejection letter, no call either.
Interview Question – There wasn't . I used to interview staff so I was ready for everything Answer Question

Interview Details – Don't get too excited. No matter having years of experience and an actual license unlike many who apply for these jobs, or even the women who work at the counters... they do most of their hiring from within.

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Nordstrom.
Interview Details – Applied online - uploaded my resume, references, and other stuff. I got an email back the next day or two telling me to set up a phone interview online. I scheduled it, and waited for the day I'd get the call. On the day of the scheduled phone interview, the manager? interviewer? called about two hours late, so just make sure you're open two hours before and after your original time slot. The questions were pretty simple - Why Nordstrom? Give an example of good customer service? - and after that, the interviewer forwarded my information to the manager of the department I was applying to. She then set up a face to face interview, which was also pretty casual. It was one-on-one, and short (15 minutes max).
Interview Question – Selling scenario - pick an outfit for a specific occasion and sell it to the department manager. Because it was so spontaneous, it was somewhat difficult, but just stay calm and it should be good. Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Nordstrom in July 2014.
Interview Details – My Nordstrom job search actually began with a Nordstrom Rack phone interview. Upon learning that I would leave for college in less than two months, the interviewer told me that the Rack was looking for people who could stay longer, but that if I was looking for a seasonal job, I should apply to Nordstrom. So as soon as I finished speaking with him, I submitted an online application to Nordstrom.
It took just a few days for them to contact me by phone to schedule an in-person interview. I came in that afternoon, and was cheerfully greeted then escorted to HR. The interview was short, about 15 minutes, and felt like a friendly conversation. The questions were the classics, and expected: Why Nordstrom? Tell me about your work experience. Tell me about going above and beyond. Tell me about working in a team. Tell me about a challenge you faced.
I was happy with the way the interview went and just a day later, HR called, but I missed it. I reached them the next day and they told me I was hired. Overall, it was a pretty seamless experience--HR is so personable and the rest of the employees seem so kind as well. I look forward to beginning my job!
