Applied online and was emailed to schedule a phone interview the very next day. The lady on the phone seemed nice. The interview questions were a bit difficult for me (it was my first interview). Overall I thought I did okay. About a week and a half later they called me back to tell me that I wouldn't be hired for the position but they'll keep my application on file.

My initial communication with the company was very professional compared to the company that I was presently working with at the time of my interviews. The process began with two (2) separate 1:1 interviews, a phone interview and then a final 1:1 interview.

I interviewed with the regional Loss Prevention manager, but since I don't have LP experience they decided I would be better in Customer Service/Communications so I interviewed with that manager. It was easy and pleasant and for the first time I didn't feel nervous during an interview. A couple days later they called and I accepted the offer.

I was told a completely different rate of pay than the one I started at. It was still pretty good so I didn't feel the need to negotiate.

After scheduling a phone interview for a specific day and time, I never received the scheduled call. I immediately contacted Human Resources and there was no answer. When I finally got a hold of someone they said they were busy at that time, and did not even apologize for the inconvenience. They conducted the phone interview, which was all of about five minutes, then scheduled me to come in person for another interview. The one on one interview was very quick. The interviewer was hardly listening to my responses to the generic questions being asked. I was also looked at up and down as I walked both in AND out of the interview.

I applied for the position of Sales Associate on the Nordstrom website. After this, I got called almost right away and invited for an interview with the HR assistant. She asked me basic questions such as:
-Why do you want to work at Nordstrom?
-Explain a situation where you had to go above and beyond your duty?
-How do you manage stress on the job?
She also asked me questions about myself, what I thought of Nordstrom and about my previous work experience.
After this, apparently I was approved, because she brought out the manager of the ***department, she interviewed me, asked me pretty much the same questions. After this, she showed me around the salesfloor, and told me I would be contacted the next day. They called me, told me I was hired, and that was it!

There is none at Nordstrom. Everyone is on a 100% commission basis, if you don't make enough commission then they will pay you $9.00 an hour.

I was just pondering over upscale department store and one of them was Nordstorm(the others were JCpenny, Macy's Dillard's Saks fifth and Nieman etc.
I searched the jobs in their website in the Career options and thats how I applied for Nordstorm. As I applied for Retail sales associate...they came with a big questionaire say about 70-80 questions like what kind of person you are and some personality,skills and behavioural questions too.That was about 45 mins and then after 2-3 days I got a mail saying that i can schedule my interview in a given time. I'm totally new to this Retail store and everything but still worked on that so hard like getting some books from library and going through their websites etc.
The BIG day came and I was dressed in business suit for the Interview looking sooooooo cool(trying to be cool). They made us all sit in a small room with a TV in it and showed us some about Nordstorm employess and how they feeel about working in there bla bla....and then the Department managers asked me to come with her and so did others with their respective managers.
At first I was nervous and then i was fine with the manager whom I interviewed.She asked me say about 10-15 behavioural questions....and taking down something when I some answers.
After 2 days a call came from that Manager and I was on AIR.....yeah I GOT my JOB in NORDSTORM!!!!!!!

Never Negotiate if that was your FIRST job....this place is totally commision based ....$9 is your basic and for every 100 u make 6.5%...its either your commision or ur salary...minus returns...

I applied online, got an invite for a phone interview a week later. This was my first interview so I researched some phone interview questions. I made an appointment and got a call from the HR. It was a very relaxed phone interview that took only about 5 minutes or so. I was then asked to come in for a 1:1 interview a few days later. I came prepared with a resume and my availability. I met with the HR assistant in a small private room. Again the interview was very relaxed.
