Sales Manager Interview
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks – interviewed at Nordstrom in August 2013.
All management positions are filled with internal candidates, so only current employees can apply for management positions. This is helpful because then most managers have a very clear understanding about company culture. You are asked general questions about your current business- where your department sales are at compared to last year, top suppliers, team development, etc. However the biggest leg up you give yourself is recommendations from superiors.
- What are the three things you stand for as a manager. Answer Question
Do not accept the first salary offer- if you negotiate they will mostly likely reconsider.

I applied online. The process took 3+ months – interviewed at Nordstrom (Columbia, MD) in March 2012.
Phone interview then in person interview with a number of interviewees and interviewers. You go to one of the Nordstrom locations with about 10 other applicants. You are given a one on one interview. Then asked to pick out an outift (pretending to be the sales person while the person interviewing you pretends to be buying an outfit for the weekend) and then you come together as a group for an open forum of questions.
- To pick someones outfit, i did not expect it. 1 Answer
I didnt negotiate anything, given random odd hours.

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ weeks – interviewed at Nordstrom (Indianapolis, IN) in June 2009.
Was very simple because they were hiring me from another department store.
There were none because they were interested and the feeling was mutual.

very limited interview Not very hard at all. They seem to want to seel you on working there. Not very deep or tricky question. It is a very simple process. Don't plan on taxing your brain much.
What were you able to negotiate? What advice would you give others considering an offer?
