Met with HR and Supervisor. Seemed rather casual and bit unprofessional. Supervisor had a weird stare and snorted at my answers. Could not believe this was even happening. Through me off and made me a bit defensive. At the end, it was clear I did not want to work with this group of people.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

    Interview Details

This was for a Contract Instructor position. I had initial discussions over the phone with Program Chair, and then a panel interview with the Program Chair, another Instructor from the same program, and a representative from Human Resources. While it was organized and a very expeditious process, the panel interview was relatively quick and easy, and they did not seem terribly thorough. It was also unclear initially as to what/how many courses I was interviewing for, and after the interview, which they seemed to like, they eagerly offered more courses than I had expected.

    Negotiation Details
Negotiating was not an option. They offered a contract per course taught, with no wiggle room. Not terrible compensation, but not sensational either, considering the amount of work one spends preparing course work, outside of the classroom.

    Interview Details

After receiving a phone call to set up a time, I met with 4 members of the organization: an HR rep, my two supervisors and the entrepreneur I would be working most closely with (in an assisting role). The interview was 1 hour and gave me a few questions on what my accomplishments/workstyle was like and then gave me a chance to ask questions and tell my own story.
