Interviewed Feb 2010 in El Segundo, CA (took a day)
Received email from HR to respond to email if interested in job. I did not actually apply to the job. I had spoken with an hiring manager at a career fair and believe through his referral, I was able to get an interview in the functional area that I wanted. However, I was disappointed that HR did not call me to schedule an interview but rather sent an email. I could have missed the email.
After interview was scheduled, I was told that 2 people would interview me (senior manager and junior employee). When I arrived for the interview, only the junior employee interviewed me. I was told that the senior manager was otherwise engaged in more urgent matters.
The interview was okay. Some questions were more challenging than others and I didn't adequately prepare to answer certain questions. After the interview, I contacted HR to know a brief time line of when I can expect to hear an answer. HR pushed me off for 2 weeks or so and I never heard back.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in El Segundo, CA (took 1+ week)
Northrop Grumman hosts 2-3 large job fairs every year. An alumni from my graduate program invited me to one of the job fairs. The job fair has many groups within the company looking for candidates to work on their projects so it is in your best interest to open many important looking people since impressing them lands you interviews. Beware of functional managers performing the interviews because you're likely going to be placed on a bad project where no one wants to work. If the team lead is not present at the interview, he or she is usually a jerk and no one wants to work for him or her. That is why the functional manager is performing the interview; the functional can seem nice but place you on a horrible project desperate for people because no one is willing to deal with the team lead. This happened to me.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in El Segundo, CA (took a day)
I went in and first met with my manager. He was pretty shy person and asked only a few questions about past experiences. Very few or none of the questions were those "typical questions" you'd find on the internet, and not challenging to answer. No technical questions. I asked most of the questions. I was introduced acquainted with another manager that will be in charge of the interns, and took a tour of the facilities where I might be working. I got the feeling I'd be hired for sure at the interview. Then met with HR and did some questions and instructions of how process will be. Total time was around 3 hrs. I cannot say that most interns can expect this easy, since my group was pretty specialized group that was looking to expand and had extra funding.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in El Segundo, CA (took a day)
Did not do a phone interview. Recruiter called me and told me to prepare for a face-2-face interview with the hiring manager. Only net him for an hour in a private room in visitor center. He shared a lot about the project. He told me and the recruiter that it had been an excellent interview and he would let me know in three weeks. He never made a decision.

Interviewed Dec 2008 in El Segundo, CA (took 2 weeks)
There wasn't any real questions asked during the interview. I answered a few questions about school and took a tour of the facility. That was it...seriously. I thought it was the worst interview anyone could possibly have, but I got a call that same night saying they wanted me.

Interviewed Dec 2007 in El Segundo, CA (took a day)
I spoke to at least 3 different groups of people. Some were one-on-one and some were two-on-one. This interview was not behavioral. It was purely technical. They asked a lot about signal processing mathematics like: Laplace, Fourier, and convolutions. They had a board and markers for me to show my work in one case.

Interviewed Apr 2008 in El Segundo, CA (took a day)
The process was pretty ad hoc; they interviewed with the manager and several team members that I will be working with if I was to be hired. They asked about my experience, approach to software development, and certain academic knowledge.
