Interview Details – Walked in the store, and they had me sit in the furniture section of the store. I sat down at a chair and desk and waited for the manager to come interview me. He walked in and said my name and shook my hand. He pulled up a seat and got started. (He seemed very friendly and was not intimidating at all when we started.) He began off with telling me "okay we're just going to ask you a few questions and take some notes, and do not worry, we are not judging you!" as he said with a smile. Which made me feel comfortable. He also had a copy of my resume in front of him, and he asked me questions regarding that(really easy questions, like school schedule and previous work experience). He asked me the questions, asked me how many hours I would like, and asked about my availability. He also told me he is multi-training people to work different areas of the store. It was a quick 15 minute interview and basically I was told I had the job. Oh, and he had me "sell" him something. I laughed and smiled and made it sound good, he handed me a pack of glue sticks to sell, and it was casual and he said it was good. Simple interview, nothing too hard.
Interview Questions
Negotiation Details – The manager said "You will be getting paid 8.50 an hour, so once the drug test comes back okay consider yourself hired." I didn't even bring up negotiation, but it sounded like you can negotiate how many hours you want to work.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Mesquite, TX Nov 2008 – Reviewed Aug 13, 2012
Interview Details – The interview process was positive, which is why I was so surprised at how the job itself ended up being. It was only about 30 minutes and they said I was overqualified, but they seemed sold on hiring me pretty much right away. One of my references called and said that the manager ended the interview saying that she didn't need any more information and that she was ready to hire me.
Interview Question – I don't remember any difficult or unexpected questions. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation

Interview Details –
2 interviews one with the assist manager who was nice, who i knew from doing merchandising, the other with the ops supervisor on my so called "selling skills"
1st interview went good, 2nd interview was odd because i haven't sold anything in retail for a while. I guess my selling was not good since i was stuck up on register for the duration of my stay at omax.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Skokie, IL May 2012 – Reviewed Jul 23, 2012
Interview Details – Application is online, and you receive a call to schedule an appoint if you're selected. Best time to apply is early in the summer, before the back to school season. My process was a single interview, after which I was told to schedule a day for training. I met with both the assistant manager and the store manager during my interview, though the focus of the interview was on the assistant manager. The store manager merely rehashed the information, and asked a couple of questions. The questions included asking me about my previous experience and my future goals ("Where do you see yourself in 5 years?"). The interview took 20 minutes and I was allowed to ask all of my questions, and received answers for all of them as well.
Interview Question – I was handed a pen and asked to sell it to the interviewer. View Answer
Negotiation Details – Being an entry level position, I chose not to negotiate. The job is minimum wage, but I was told about performance metrics that would allow me to earn extra money. I did not concern myself too much with the salary, so I am unaware on if it is possible to negotiate a higher salary.

Interview Questions
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Pittsburgh, PA Jun 2012 – Reviewed Jul 2, 2012
Interview Details – I found out OfficeMax was hiring a Printing Associate from an ad on Craig's List. I called and they told me to apply online. I did so, it was not very long. Just a few questions and basic info. I believe you can upload your resume. I was then asked to come in to have an interview on about an hours notice, which for me was ok. I came in and had a talk with the hiring manager in charge of the printing area (Impress). We talked for a little bit, he notices that I have a strong background in computers and recommends me to talk to another person fr a different position (sales consultant). Pretty standard questions were asked like job history (what you did), why do you want to work at office max, etc. In the end they wanted to hire me.
Interview Question – For me it was: "Why do you want to work at officemax?" with a career in perspective. My major at college and previous experience didn't really fit so it was sort of awkward. I was just looking for a part-time job nearby that I could make money while in college. View Answer
Reason for Declining – I declined the offer because I was looking for higher pay based on my experience/education. A sales consultant starts at a much lower rate when working part-time (about 1-2 dollars less). However the hours were nice and they were flexible which interested me in the first place since I am still a student. The managers were really nice/cool too.
