Resident Assistant Interview

Resident Assistant

Interviewed at Ohio State University

Interview Details – Had to apply online first. General information, and a few broad essay questions that focus on diversity, problem solving, etc. If you do well with that (and there is no reason you shouldn't), plus you have a 3.0+ GPA, you get to the interview. The interview questions are behavioral in nature, dealing with conflict mediation, diversity, stress, etc. After that, you have the RA class. It used to be that one would be hired after the class; now you will be hired before.

Interview Question – There were no hugely technical questions. Just be prepared for answers to conflict mediation and diversity. Think about the position, and be honest in your answers.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation. You get full room, discount meal plan, and a biweekly stipend.

I applied through other source and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Ohio State University in June 2008.

Interview Details – When I first applied to OSU, I submitted a paper application. Several weeks later, I received a call asking me if I would like to come in for a test. A few weeks after that, I was contacted by phone to come in for an interview. I interviewed at the department that was hiring and was hired on the spot.

Interview Question – I think answering the required salary question is always the most difficult. You don't want to ask for more than they are willing to pay but you don't want to sell yourself short either.   Answer Question

Student Assistant Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Ohio State University in August 2013.

Interview Details – It was extremely simple. I applied online, and sent my chief of staff an email with the copy of my resume and a cover letter. In about two weeks, I had received an email to set-up an interview. My interview was on a Wednesday, and I knew by the following Monday whether I was hired of not.

Interview Question – In all honesty, the questions were extremely simple. It was team-building based, since student staff always works together. They wanted to see whether or not we were truly interested in the job or not. Overall, extremely simple. I would not worry at all. Just be yourself and show interest.   Answer Question
