Interviewed Nov 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 3 weeks)
Oliver Wyman was very professional in handling the entire hiring process. Communication was prompt and decisions were made within 24 hours. Process started with 2 tests, math and verbal. Not many people complete all questions in test. There is negative marking. First round is two 1:1 interviews. It will either be two case studies or one case study and one personality test. Final round is 3 case studies and 1 personality test with MDs.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 2 days)
The people at Oliver Wyman are very laid back and down to earth. I had 3 interviews in the first round (2 case interviews and 1 CV interview) and one math test. The math test was really hard since you only had about 30 seconds for each question and it took at least 15 seconds just to understand many of the questions. I only scored about 50 % but it was enough. In the second round I had 3 case interviews. One of the case interviews was a brain teaser where the interviewer was more interested in how I structured my thinking than the actual answer itself. The brain teaser was really hard. I later tested it on 4-5 other students. Nobody came up with the right answer.

Remember that the Oliver Wyman culture really is different from many other firms. Some of the interviewers met me in T-shirts and were really friendly. Just relax and do your best.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
After passing their numeracy/verbal tests, I was invited to an on-site interview at their Bond Street HQ. The first interview was with an Oxford alumnus and was completely personality/competency based. The conversation lasted 30 minutes and was very relaxed. After a wait of a couple minutes, the HR person came and took me to the case study interview. I was not expected to write very much and the interviewer lead me along much more than I expected. Everything went according to plan but no offer. Whatcha gon do?

Interviewed Feb 2010 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 3 weeks)
The people seemed young and energetic, theoffice is in a pretty flashy business park on baker street. The tests were relatively dificult, but the time constraint made it very tough.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
The first step was a CV screen; if your CV passed you were invited to sit two tests (verbal and quantitative). Only people who achieved a passing score on the tests was invited to interview. Interviews were scheduled over a week using an online system which was very easy to use. There were two case study interviews with senior people at the firm. While both interviewers were pleasant to talk to, one of the pieces of feedback I received was that I was 'too qualified' for the position even though it was the one I had been recommended to apply for, which speaks to poor communication between HR and the consulting staff. There was also a hint that I was too old for the role which was surprising and discouraging.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in City of London, England (United Kingdom) (took 1 week)
Questions very unlike any other consultancy - like GCSE maths. Other consultancies at least make the questions appear relevant to the job. Angles in a circle don't seem to be relevant...
