Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 2 weeks)
I submitted my resume through an internal referral. I was shortly contacted by an HR person via email and scheduled for a phone screening interview. This lasted for about 30 minutes, was experience and skills based. It was longer than most screening interviews, but I also got a chance to ask a lot of questions and understand the company.
Next, I was asked to submit a skills test. I actually found this totally redundant. It was essay based and the questions were very high-level, much easier tackled over the phone. Also, I had a PMP certification and experience in the job so I found this part unnecessary. I completed this and was connected to the Hiring Manager for a phone interview. The Hiring Manager was sharp and the interview lasted about half an hour.
I was then invited for an in-person interview. This was a 5 hour interview with 5 1:1 interviews. Exhausting, but at the same time informative. I was impressed with every single person in the management team whom I interviewed with both in terms of personality as well as credentials.
On the whole, I came away with a very high opinion with the quality of people at OPower. I actually already had a job offer and asked them to make a quick decision. They responded the very next day with an offer. While I eventually declined the offer, I was contacted by several members of the interviewing team who both congratulated and tried to convince me to join. They were very flexible with most of my demands.
I came away with strong respect for management and the culture at OPower and recommend this company to anyone looking to join a startup.

Reason for Declining
I declined the offer because it was not fully aligned with the role I was looking for. It was a very hard decision because I knew that being a startup and with strong, caring management (this came across in the interviews), I would be able to grow. However, on the whole, the position was quite junior to what I had handled in the past and functionally not where I wanted to be. Salary offer was what I expected and good for a startup.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Skills Test.
