Interviewed Feb 2010 in Dodge Center, MN (took a day)
2 one on one interviews. very easy, then took a plant tour with the future supervisor. Human Resources was very nice and helpful. This was for an internship so it was laid back.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Oshkosh, WI (took 3 months)
I was initially contacted by HR that arranged a 20 minute phone call interview. I was then called in for a face to face interview with the same HR Manager, the Director of Environmental and then two of his subordinates. Nothing terribly unusual in the questions with HR and the manager and subordinates wanted a feel for my background and experience. Everyone was friendly in a business-like manner and seemed to go well. I was called back for a second interview a month later this time with several senior management as well as the Director once more. Again the interviews were not terribly unusual except that the VP of HR was a straight 20 minutes of rapid fire questions seeming more for the sake of rattling me rather than listening to my answers. (Recommend that candidates prepare for all questions. E.g, what are your 3 best traits, 3 worst traits, what would your past coworkers say they liked about you, etc.)
In general a nice group of people and a company that is actually doing fairly well despite the economic times. I thought the whole process was slow and I was a bit frustrated when I was not kept informed of my status. I thought that the interviews went well but I did not get the job. No real reason was provided.

Interviewed Nov 2009 (took 2 days)
Interviewed for Engineer position with Oshkosh Defense. Had phone interview with HR contact, then phone interview with hiring manager, followed by two followup visits for series of 1:1 interviews. Checked with HR about appropriate attire and was assured business casual was appropriate. Did not get the offer, and the feedback received was "I could have dressed better." If you're interviewing with Defense, guys need to wear sport jacket at a minimum, and in my opinion you can't go wrong with a suit.

Interviewed May 2009 (took 4+ weeks)
The initial phone interview was a little over an hour. Pretty standard interview with the HR manager. I was called back to do an in-person interview, which was held two weeks later. That consisted of two different panels of interviewers and took about 3.5 hours. Everyone seemed pretty nice, and it was a good cross-section of people who were involved (departments, levels, etc.) I was contacted again to arrange for an assessment process that was held 1.5 weeks after the second interview. I knew that other candidates would be there, so I assumed that part of it would be to assess how we worked with others. I was surprised to find out that everything was done in isolation. There was an activity where we had to write directions on how to complete a given task, then on to watch a video and give a presentation on it, then another interview with the HR manager and the plant manager, and finally a role play with one of the company's employees. Though I was there for 4-5 hours, most of it was spent just waiting my turn. I felt they could have done much more to get a true sense of a candidate's abilities. The writing activity, presentation, and role play felt contrived and squeezed into too-short of a time frame, while the interview was repetitive since it was the third time I had done that with them.
