Interviewed May 2012 in Philadelphia, PA (took 3 weeks)
Two days after completing the online application, I was emailed a personality assessment to complete within 24 hours. Then about 3 days later, the recruiter contacted me on the phone to discuss the position in further detail. She first told me that the Financial Sales Consultant I is an entry level position starting at $23,000 to $25,000 with commission. I was looking for $30,000 to start since I have two years of relevant (banking) experience. I indicated that I was still interested in the position despite the lower salary. She asked me several questions about my work history which included banking, customer service and sales. The recruiter was very pleasant and mature in her approach. She then set me up with a one on one interview with the branch manager for later that same week.
The interview at the branch was with the manager and teller supervisor. The interview was more of a discussion as opposed to a question and answer session, which I liked. I believe that the lack of formality gave all of us an opportunity to get to know how we would all work together. They shared with me about the customer demographics (40 % Russian at this particular branch), sales expectations and how the Gallop results affect all of our commissions. When I asked specifically how much I could realistically earn in yearly commissions, I was told about $2,000 since it wasn't a very busy branch. They knew that I made over $30,000 in my last banking position so I appreciated their honesty. The manager who has been with PNC for 7 years said that the company had a very caring attitude toward their employees which is important. We chatted about the banking industry and how it has changed. We also discussed some of the other larger banking institutions and how they compare to PNC. I felt the interview went very well and that I had a good chance at getting a job offer. I sent a follow-up email to the branch manager in which I thanked him for his time and expressed my interest in working with him at PNC. Even though the salary was lower than I expected, I felt good about the office location, the manager and the possibilities for promotions.
Unfortunately, two days after the interview, I received an email from the recruiter stating that they decided on another candidate but she encouraged me to continue to check the PNC website for other openings.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Philadelphia, PA (took 1 week)
I first applied online. Afterwards, I took a long (about 100 questions or more) test online, which was followed by another online test. Presumably, these were to measure personality, which they likely compared against ideal results. I was then called and scheduled a phone interview with an HR person. The interview asked pretty standard questions (why are you leaving your old job? Why are you looking at PNC?), and I then scheduled a 1:1 interview. They sent me an email with information on the interview. They're very strict about things you should do in the interview; I suggest you follow these instructions. Again, the interview questions were very standard. I was called a few days later with an offer of a job and a salary.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Philadelphia, PA (took 3 days)
Went through one interview by PNC campus recruiter and was invited to Super Day. Had 3 interviews, all 2 on 1. Good mix of technical and behavioral questions. Good idea to review financial statements and bank's roles in the recession.

Interviewed May 2010 in Jenkintown, PA (took a day)
You must go in the branch you applied at for an one on one interview with the manager. Interview questions were very easy. There were many client management and relationship questions rather than behavioral questions. One of the obvious one was tell me about a time when you had to deal with a client who was not happy with the service you provided them and how did you manage to fix the problem?

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Philadelphia, PA (took 4 weeks)
I submitted an application online. After roughly 2 weeks, I received a phone call for a 1st round phone interview with a regional HR rep. The phone interview was around 20 minutes in length, covering my work experience, educational experience, and perspective on the open position. After that interview, I was informed that I would wait to receive word on receiving a 1 on 1 interview with the branch manager. After about a week, I received that interview. The 1 on 1 interview was at the branch with the manager. It was mostly similar to the phone interview with a few additional personal aspects. After that interview, the branch manager and HR rep consulted, and I was offered the position about a week after that. The whole process from submitting the application to receiving the position was about a month.

Negotiation Details
There wasn't much room given for negotiation. They offered a flat number, which was below my request, and they were strict about not budging from that number. Banks drive hard bargains. My advice to others would be...don't expect what you're asking for, and don't expect too much wiggle room.

Interviewed Mar 2009 in Philadelphia, PA (took a day)
This position was posted through a college career center website with the additional requirement being that you also apply at the company's website. The best thing to know when going into an interview for an internship is not necessarily questions specific to your field. The best thing to know is what you have accomplished in your life, plus mental notes of situations you've faced that fit generic strength/weekness/overcoming adversity questions. The interview itself was relaxed and friendly.

Interviewed Aug 2008 in Philadelphia, PA (took 5 days)
I first took a quick numbers and morality test. That was easy. Then I had to do an interview with a recruiter and that was more of a behavioral/personality interview. They asked me five questions about being a good employee. Overall, the whole process was quick and easy. Nothing much about the company was asked of me.
