Interviewed Sep 2010 (took a day)
I received a call on a Tuesday & was interviewed on the following Thursday. PG&E uses the STAR inteview process, where you describe results of a situation. Actually easier than usual interview questions. The interviewer actualll called me within a week to give me feedback. I did well except for I did not give good information re: the company culture. I was interviewed by 2 people. Both very professional and made me feel at ease. I liked the atmosphere in the office & I really wanted the job however I was advised that they hired internally. Make sure you do your homework on the company.

Interviewed Feb 2009 (took a day)
interview experiences vary for every job= its decentralized so it depends on the hiring manager
Normally there is a phone screen then you are called in to meet the people and the key here is
1. Enthusiasm about the company
2. Read up on recent events, prop 16 to the smart meter issues
3. have a passion for green energy
4. have some good questions about the job
5 ask to meet peers in the dept
6. finish interview wiht "any concerns about my experience" so you have a chance to save yourself
If you know people at the company - even better- bring up their names

Interviewed Mar 2010 in San Francisco, CA (took 2 weeks)
I got to the 3rd round (with the hiring manager) and was not given an offer. The interview was 90% behavioral questions, asking you about your communication skills, conflict resolution skills, analytical skills, etc. They asked you to answer using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action and Resolution) format. It was very structured and professional.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in San Francisco, CA (took 1 week)
I guess for the internship process they do not require candidates to come on site. After sending in my resume online, I got a call from HR the next day. Took about 4 days until I got my phone interview (this included the weekend). Phone interview was with 2 people from the department, asking me about my background, experience in project management, and where my interests lie in regard to their key goals.
Overall I had a good experience in speaking with the hiring managers, but I had to call HR the day after I was supposed to be called because they forgot about me when I was expected to speak with them the day before! So make sure to contact HR that you were promised a phone interview ASAP if you don't hear from the company the day you were scheduled to speak with them.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in San Francisco, CA (took a day)
Spoke with six of the people in the group, ranging from the supervisor to the associate analyst. A bit hectic rotating through 6 people in 1.5 hours, but it gave me a good impression of the team. PG&E has a bit of old school corporate culture mixed in with the cosmopolitan flavor of San Francisco culture.

Interviewed Feb 2008 in San Jose, CA (took a day)
There was only one in-person interview conducted by a panel of 2 senior engineers. They asked about my experience and how I would react and solve a problem situation. Or how I would approach and plan a specified work assignment, budget manpower, equipment and materials. I thought they liked what they heard.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 1+ week)
The interview process consisted of a phone screen interview from HR and a subsequent 2.5 hour interview with one individual performing the same job function as myself, another individual reporting to the same boss performing a different job function and another individual who was mirrored a position that I would be providing support to. I had a subsequent follow-up call for 10-15 minutes the next day to address an outstanding question.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in San Francisco, CA (took a day)
Met with 3 Directors. Very interesting. I would classify the interview as a consulting case interview. Was picked up on time from reception and led to interviews on time and they were consitent. Only thing was it felt more like a consultancy session vs. interviews. Director jotted down my "plan and wrote it down". - found this to be interesting and strange.
