Very Easy Interview
The process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in November 2012.
Interview Details – Was given an over-the-phone interview with my District Manager, during which she was driving; I could hear her GPS in the background. Asked perfunctory questions, such as strengths and opportunities, and obviously took zero notes.
Interview Question – What I thought of my SM. Hard to tell if she was looking for praise or for criticism. View Answer
Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in November 2012.
Interview Details – I walked into the store and handed in my resume expecting nothing. I got a call back yesterday to go in for a group interview that lasted for an hour. The questions were pretty basic. They asked us to introduce ourselves, customer service, word analogies and overall experience. Pretty basic.
Interview Question – They asked situational questions where they gave you an example and you'd say how you would deal with the situation. They also wanted us to pick an outfit from the store that represents your style and say why you had chosen it. Answer Question
I applied in-person and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in January 2012.
Interview Details – Pacific Sunwear is very selective when it comes to picking their employees, especially management. Knowing the culture of PacSun is vital to getting employed. You will be hit with numerous questions regarding product knowledge, time management and specific customer service issues.
Interview Question – Current business results and/or business knowledge. As a manger for PacSun you are expected to speak to the business.

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear.
Interview Details – Four step process - initial screen interview with the recruiter, phone interview with hiring manager and another manager in the company, in office interview with three people and then follow-up phone interview with people that couldn't make my in-office visit (I was from out of state).
The recruiter was great and helped me prep for the interview a little by telling me some thing they would ask or maybe he was just telling me what often tripped up other candidates. In-office interview was very well organized and people were very nice, but at the last minute, some of the people I was supposed to interview with couldn't make it, so I had to do more interviews once I got home. Questions were not that hard and were sometimes more conversational.
Having accepted the job and hearing about other interviews, and even giving an interview, I know that typically the interviews are not very tough. The company doesn't give any guidance to the interviewers, so people will probably ask you the same questions.
Interview Question – Why do you want to work for PacSun? Have you been to a store recently? What did you notice? View Answer
Negotiation Details – There was a little room for negotiation, but they did lie to me and say that they couldn't pay me XX amount because that would put me outside the pay range for that position. I know they lied because the next year I got a raise that put me well over that limit.
I applied in-person and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in August 2012.
Interview Details – I walked into pacsun and asked for an application. The lady who helped me was extremely friendly. She gave me a quick interview while I filled out the application. She was the assisant manger and seemed very much interested. After i finished, she shook my hand and told me they will give me a call. A week later I get a call to come in for a personal interview. I arrive promt and ready, only to be stood up and not given an interview. I ask the assisant manager if I can get a hold a of the manager and she said he was too busy. Never applying here again. Very unproffresional

I applied in-person and the process took 6 weeks - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in June 2012.
Interview Details – Applied in-person in mid-May, got a call back in early June for a group interview a few days later. The interviewer, who I later learned is the store manager, was very friendly and personable. The people I was with seemed likewise friendly, some gave him their sob stories. (Also, see the interview question below.) I felt just okay about it afterwards. However, they called back a few days later asking to do a background check, and a few days after that came a job offer!

I applied in-person and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in July 2012.
Interview Details – I turned my application in sometime in the beginning of June and got a call a month and a half later about going in to an interview. I was interviewed with two other people. The other girl I was interviewed with was a natural and was answering the questions perfectly so I wasn't feeling very confident about my chances of getting hired. We were asked about 30 questions or so, but they were pretty straight forward. After we finished all of the questions, we went back to the store and the manager told us to pick out an outfit, head to toe, from the store and then show it to him and tell him why we think it's the best outfit and basically how we would sell it to a customer. I got a call the next day offering me the job.
I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Pacific Sunwear in July 2012.
Interview Details – Well i put in an application last tuesday and got a call for an interview today friday the 13th. I showed up 10 mins early, the manager told me to walk around until she was ready. 2 other applicants showed up much older than me like 19 and 20 (im only 16) she asked us simple questions such as favorite brands and why etc. Then she told us we would be working in the store for a couple hours and to try and make sales. We had to greet the customers and ask them if they needed any assistance. I personally sold the most items to the most customers she was very impressed being that my competitors (older than me really didnt sell anything) but yeah she gave all of us papers for a backround check and hopefully she calls in a week or 2 with a job offer. P.S ask many questions and use words that pertain to the job like customer service and sales.
