Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 4 months)
First of all,I was contacted by a head hunter that kept telling me that I'm the right person for the job blah , blah ,blah. That person called me at least 50 times in a three months span. He did tell me to sharpen up on Algorithms and I did as much as I could, investing more time on those subjects are not the smartest decision as most companies (at least in my country) don't care.
After that I had 3 phone interviews, made pretty well in the first two. The first one was with the HR lady, she was really sweet and nice. I think I passed this, then I got the second one and again, it was with a nice gentleman, it wasn't great, but he gave me a hint that I passed, he told me that I did fine at the end of the phone call. This interview, I had to write some code regarding Hashtable and I was claim.
In the final interview, I didn't do well, at first he asked me mix questions regarding Java and I did pretty well, then he start moving about algorithms and stuff that you may use it once in your life time unless you developing the Java Virtual Machine itself. he asked me how to get the 3 numbers that sums to Zero within an array. I think I was not in my best mode, I just gave very wrong answer.
What I didn't like about this experience that you need to do perfect all the time, and if you slip once you are out. The head-hunter will promise you stuff but he will not stand with you.
I really wasted 4 months of my life for this job, I would recommend people to try to make start-up and take chance in there rather than to join un-profitoable demanding start-up like Palantir.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Palo Alto, CA (took 2 days)
Palantir was part of an on-campus college fair, during which I approached them. After describing the two parts of their company, they took my resume and asked some preliminary technical questions. After about a week, they contacted me via e-mail and set up a first phone interview, which I did 2 weeks later. A few days later, they e-mailed requesting a second phone interview. The same day as that second interview, they e-mailed me saying that there were no available positions available for me.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in New York, NY (took 3 days)
The first interview was on the phone and it lasted about 17 minutes. Their website says the initial phone interview is usually about 45 minutes. The guy who called me told me he couldn't talk long because he was very busy that day. He mostly asked me about my resume and to tell him what Palantir does. He sounded grumpy and tired the whole time but I remained nice and professional. I thought since he was in such a crappy mood I wasn't going to advance to the next round.
A few days later I got an email asking me to come into the office to meet with someone else. The interview lasted a full hour and included an editing test and a style test (like I had to pick from a series of options which sentence best and most clearly described what Palantir does). This seemed normal to me since the test was for a Writer position. What threw me off guard was when the guy started asking me logic questions. The questions were really very basic physics questions (like if I live at this address and there are 2 subway stations near me, which one will get me to work the fastest). The guy told me I answered these correctly and that I did a good job on the editing test. I thought this meant I'd advance to the next round (there are 5 rounds total) but I got an email a few days later saying that there wasn't really a match for me at Palantir given my skills and experience (so why did they call me in for an interview? who the hell knows). Anyways if you are interviewing for the Writer position be prepared for some basic math/physics. And no matter what position you're interviewing for, you MUST know what Palantir does. They will ask you that a few times.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 1+ week)
Submitted resume job fair in my school. They setup a phone interview next week. Asked couple algorithm questions. First one was how do you find if sum of 2 numbers is equal to a certain number in an array. Then sum of 3, 4 and N numbers. I gave an answer. But the interviewer wanted a one that would work faster. There were awkward moments of silence. The other questions were easier. There is an array that has all the numbers from 1 to N but missing one. How do you find the missing number?

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 4 weeks)
Multiple phone interviews with engineers at Palantir. Overall everyone was very nice. The technical questions were hard, but not daunting. I was under the impression that they were more interested in *how* you solved a problem then what your final solution was (except for the ones with a clear "correct" answer). Missed one question (and really, I had qualms about the validity of the interviewer's "better" solution) and I think that did it for me. In the end, the position wasnt really for me anyway. I wasnt surprised or upset when they said they would not be continuing the interview process.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Palo Alto, CA (took a day)
I submitted my resume at a campus job fair. A week or so later, I was contacted for a phone screen. The interviewer briefly described three different software teams and asked which I was most interested in. All of the rest of the questions were about data structures and algorithms. Specifically, all questions were of the form "give me an algorithm to do X. What are the time and space complexity?" Some of the questions were the same or very similar to others posted on this site (for similar positions). The interviewer was a new engineer (< 6 months) himself. I found him to be very polite and helpful, not arrogant or condescending in any way. There were no questions about my background, experience, or anything else on my resume. I received a rejection email within five hours of the interview. At least they didn't leave me hanging! There's no question that the bar is very high at Palantir.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Palo Alto, CA (took a day)
I initially spoke to people from the company via my college's career fair. I was asked technical questions during the career fair, after which, they set me up with an interview, which was a half hour long, consisting of one behavioral question and the rest technical questions on data structures and algorithms.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 2 weeks)
I initially talked with them at my university's career fair. Sounded like an interesting company, and the recruiter liked me enough to give me a follow up phone interview a couple weeks later. The person who interviewed me was about 15 minutes late in calling, but he was all business once he called. I had a few personal questions about my previous work experience and then he immediately asked me a few technical questions. I didn't do so well on the questions, although once I was told the answers it seemed like I just wasn't concentrating well when he asked the questions. Interview was relatively short, once he realized that I wasn't up to their standards he thanked me and told me they would respond shortly. The next response I received from them was a email telling me that I wasn't what they were looking for. Overall not bad, the company sounds like it has a really interesting atmosphere and challenging work. Although I definitely enjoyed talking to them more in person than on the phone.
