Payless ShoeSource Parttime Sales Interview

Posted Feb 17, 2012

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Feb 2012 – Reviewed Feb 17, 2012

Interview Details – The ladies that interviewed me were really friendly. They asked me basic questions about job history, strengths on a team, a time where I made a mistake / how did I fix it,and a time where I helped a customer make a decision. They are all read from this paper in robotic questions each time from 2 managers. Which they asked me to mix up my answers each time and they had me sell shoes and attach other shoes, make up, socks or whatever to raise dpt.

Interview Question – Name a time when you were on a successful team and what role did you play?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The district manager was low balling me. I asked for 8.50 or 9 just because I have over 4 years management experience. The only offer she could make me was $7.75! During my interview the current manager said she could probably do it since her high school girls make that wage. She got back to me and I even asked me if the district manager would meet me in the middle at $8.25 and she said the dm was firm on the offer. I suppose that's why they call it "payless" I happily declined their offer. This company will not thrive if they hire people at such low paid. As much pay as high school students for people with management experience. It makes me sick.
