Electrical Engineer Interview

Electrical Engineer
Maracaibo (Venezuela)

I interviewed at Pdvsa in September 2010.

Interview Details – They needed to start up the turbines because they fired all the people and the plant was stopped. They were looking for someone who can help them to put the turbines into service again. There were no many people who could help in this sense because the turbines control system was not known by many people

Interview Question – The most difficult question was about my salary because I was exactly what they needed. I wanted a good salary and I got it   Answer Question

Process Engineer Interview

Process Engineer
Puerto La Cruz, AnzoƔtegui (Venezuela)

I applied in-person and the process took 6+ months - interviewed at Pdvsa in May 2010.

Interview Details – The process is really slow, since in my case i just had to wait around six months. They initially contact you for the Interview, around two months later than the appliance and then around two more months to call you again to do some medical tests and then around three more months they call you to sign the contract. Some people have been waiting even more than a year for this process.

Interview Question – They normally asks a lot about your university projects and subjects, but for some people, the harder question are just those about politics, geography or History.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I actually doens't have the chance to negotiate since i was unemployed at the moment and i kinda liked the offer at that time.

Static Equipment Engineer Interview

Static Equipment Engineer
Barcelona, AnzoƔtegui (Venezuela)

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Pdvsa.

Interview Details – The interview process was divided in two stages basically, the first one and group interview with other candidates to different positions. This group interview was carried out by Human Resources personnel, I did consist of group task and discussion about certain subject. The candidates had to prepare a short presentation and express their thoughts regarding the topic.
The second stage was the technical interview, in my case rather than a personal interview, it was a group one. We had a test describing some practical situations in order to develop a maintenance strategy for a Major Equipment

Interview Question – The first stage had question about politic, the role of the Oil & Gas Industry within the Political Project of the National Government   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – The negotiation regarding salary was quite tough because the salary structure in the Company is very stiff, with salary bands well defined
