I applied in-person - interviewed at PennyMac in July 2014.

    Interview Details

I was contacted by a department manager who had seen my resume in their system and invited me for a personal interview. We set an appointment and I arrived about ten minutes ahead of time. I was left waiting for 45 minutes and was moved from one lobby to another by the security guard. Finally a very pleasant woman showed up and told me she would be interviewing me instead of the original person. There was no place to meet so we went into a training room and found someplace to sit. The interview went very well and all the questions were appropriate and I gave solid answers. It lasted about half an hour. I was told they would let me know in about a week as they had other candidates to screen. A week and a half later I called and they said it would be another week. Still having not heard anything, I called back yet again a week and a half later and left a voice mail. Needless to say, weeks later they never got back to me.

    Interview Details

I had two in person interviews. One with the person who would eventually become my boss, and a second interview with her and her boss. Neither interview was very revealing in regards to expectations, company culture or environment. Interview questions were very general.

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days - interviewed at PennyMac.

    Interview Details

PennyMac conducted an expected interview process that included meeting and interviewing with various employees that supervise or interact with the position the company is seeking to fill. The interviews were conducted over a two days of interviewing and involved speaking with seven different people. The questions seemed relevant to the position responsibilities and company goals.

    Interview Questions
    • I didn't expect being asked to perform a problem solving exercise during the interview process. It would have paid to have reviewed McKinsey's interview tips for this type of interview.
