Interviewed May 2011 (took 5+ weeks)
Initial contact occured from my response to an ad posted on a major job board. I applied through the board and additionally submitted information through their website where the job was also posted. HR got back to me the next day and within hours I had a phone interview scheduled with the hiring manger for a week later.
Hiring manger asked good situational questions and I inquired about the stability of the company, the solidity of the position and got all the right answers. All seemed well. I was onto the next interview.
Phone interview number 2 was with the hiring manager and his boss. Again, more situational questions and in the end it seemed there was a match between myself and their needs. I drilled them about company structure, funding, ownwership, etc. all their answers were rosey. They said the business was solid, no hidden agendas, they also said they have a vision for the future and can always know what's coming because they have good forethought. Sounds good!
HR gets back to me to schedule a 3rd round interview with the VP of Operations and they also sent over the credit check authorization. Things are looking good and it seems like this last interview is just a formaility inorder to meet the big boss and maybe have him make me an offer!
I'm given a choice of no less than different 15 times over a weeks span to interview with him. I chose the first one on the list which would be for the next day and it is confirmed. Later in the evening, the HR rep emails me and says the VP isn't available and he will get back to me with a revised time. A few emails back and fourth over a week and the interview still isn't rescheduled but I am eventually told the holdup is because the VP and hiring manger need to meet face to face.
A few days after I learn this, the HR manager emails me to let me know the position has been put on hold for a few weeks but I am a very strong candidate and when/if the position becomes available they may get back to me. I graciously replied to the HR manager thanking her for their consideration and asked if I could follow up with her in a few weeks. As of now that inquiry to follow up and a second inquiry to her a few weeks later asking about the status of the position have not been answered. Go figure.
The position had been removed from thier website so I guess there isn't an available opportunity after all. Personally, I think there is a huge lack of foresight and major indecision in the company which was the exact opposite of what the hiring manager and his boss went to great lengths to convey to me. It's also reasonable to believe that there is very poor communication between upper and middle management. That's not good...
I guess not getting the job is better than being hired and then laid off (again) in a few months becuase they can'y see past the end of their noses... Geez. What a waste of time and energy for everyone involved...
