Began the interview process with trading phone calls In November with HR. Got invited in December to come in for a basic test consisting of scripting logic, how I would respond via email to a costumer, and questions over other basic IT knowledge. After this, I was invited back to talk to my would be bosses, who were really nice, and seemed to have a personality match with. Was told to wait about two weeks and would hear back from the HR rep. Two and half weeks later into January had to call back and was told by the HR rep that I would be offered a position but didn't want to commit to that, and also that I was second on their list to fill a couple of positions available, and I should wait two more weeks. Asked if I could be bumped off their list at this point, was told no, could only be bumped down. Two weeks passed, no phone call, come to find HR rep is ignoring any inquiries.
In a nutshell, people seemed nice, interviews were relaxed and be prepared for a general IT quiz. Take any word from their HR with a grain of salt.

I saw a job posting online, so I applied at Perceptive Software. I got a call back within a few days from and HR generalist. She basically wanted to set up a phone interview with one of the recruiters. Within a couple days a recruiter called me. She asked a bunch of general questions about my qualifications. A few "tell me about a time" type questions. And the typical "why do you want to work here", "why do you want to leave your current job", "what kind of work do you want to do" type questions. Nothing too difficult. Especially since I had been asked all this numerous times by others in my job search. The phone interview was approx 1hr. Then after that she said they would be in contact if they decided I was a match.
About a few days later, I got a call that they wanted to continue and wanted me to come in and take a skills test. Apparently all developers have to take this skills test to get hired. At that time they were doing C++ and Java there, but I think now their tryin to get into C#.NET. I scheduled a time to take the C++ test, thou I would have rathered C#, but give my choices I felt more comfortable with that. I was told to come in and tell the receptionist I was there to take the test, and the test would take 1 hr. When I got there my first impression was that the inside of their builder was very nice and very contemporary, and I would love to call this my work home. But the receptionist was slightly rude and kinda short. As if she had done this a thousand times before and hated even being asked to administer these tests to applicants.
She showed me to a room that was little more than a closet with a desk and chair. Luckily it had a full length window. Anyone claustrophobic might have trouble with that room. She plopped the test an a couple pencils on the table. Mumbled something about fill out the first page, blah, blah, and you have 1 hr, this is scratch paper. She rambled the instructions off really fast. Which goes back to me feelin like she didnt care and this was merely an unwanted interruption or her day. Luckily the instructions on the page were pretty self explanatory. The front page was some personal information stuff, so they can do a background check if you continue in the process. The 2nd page was all written, no multiple choice. They asked me to create/write out several C++ classes, which included polymorphism, and inheritance. Since I didnt have any idea what would be on the test, I was kinda caught off guard. However, I did finish the test, and do so within the hour. Thou when the hour was over, the receptionist never came back to check on me. I took the test back to the front desk and was told it usually takes 3 days for someone to grade the test. She thanked me for coming in, and handed me a generic card (she wrote the HR Generalist name on it in pen) to call if I had questions. Overall, I know I made a few syntactical errors on the test, but I felt my logic was solid and I still had a chance for the job. So, I felt good about my chances. After 3 days exactly, I got a form email saying, blah, blah, thanx but no thanx. I guess I didnt pass the test and that was the last I heard from them. Apart from the phone interview, the only person I ever interacted with face-to-face there was the receptionist. And kinda struck me as odd that they would have a person with such an uninviting personality as a receptionist. Given that shes the face of the company to anyone that walks thru the front door.

The phone interview was very easy and the young girl conducting is seemed to be following your basic "How to conduct an interview" worksheet.
Had an inperson interview with the head of the group and someone who would have been my colleague. Very friendly and I thought it went VERY well. Never heard anything for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden I got a "form email" that said i didn't get the job. Pretty frustrating.
