Interviewed Mar 2012 in Hialeah, FL (took 3 days)
The store that I went to was pretty busy with many customers and only two employees, the manager and a cashier/sales associate. The manager called me in for an interview at 3:00PM and I showed up at 2:40PM since its always good to be early for an interview instead of on time or late. When I walked into the store the manger was on a cash register helping customers and couldnt interview me for 40 minutes after I got there so I had to walk around looking at the store to kill time. The interview was conducted in a storage area of the store that had poop on the floor and a bunch of boxes. The questions that were asked were pretty general like what place do you like to shop? what place do you hate to shop? why do you want to work for pet supermarket?. The experience wasnt very enjoyable having to wait around 40+ minutes to be interviews and conducting an interview in a storage room was very unprofessional. It didnt look like the store had a break room for the associates either since my interview was conducted in the storage room so I assume that the associates have to eat their lunch/food by a cash register or in the storage room.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The manager said that they only pay associates $7.65 an hour, and those with previous sales experience might only get up to $7.87. The working conditions were really dirty and the associates did not have any area to eat lunch or take a break. It was also very unprofessional that the store manager couldnt stop attending the customers with another associate in the store to conduct my interview, I had been waiting 40+ minutes in the store wearing a suit for an interview.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Inverness, FL (took 3 months)
5 months ago Pet Supermarket had an ASM opening in Zephrehills, FL
I emailed my resume and did not hear anything at all.
I went to the store and talked to the store manager and filled out an application and has a short interview.
Did not hear anything back at all.
3 months ago they advertised the same ASM position for the Inverness, FL store.
I emailed my resume and received a call from the store manager to do an interview.
Had my interview a week later and filled out an application.
Did not hear anything untill a month ago to have an interview with the district manager in Inverness.
They also did a 12 minute test, drugtest and background check,
2 weeks later I had an interview with the recruiter after I contacted the recruiter.
An other week later I received a phone call from an other store manager in once again Inverness
and also once again had to fill out an application ( it seems they lost the 3 other ones with my social on it etc)
I received and offer an other week later and the offer was about the same as working for MCDonalds and a shift supervisor.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Orlando, FL (took 2 weeks)
First interview was with the DM in person. Second interview was given by a store manager in person a few days later. Questions were pretty typical interview questions. ""Tell me what skills you have that would be useful to us if we hired you" Then sent to take a skills test which was fairly easy and then off to a drug test. Then much later an interview with Corporate over the phone answering pretty much the same type of questions. It lasted about 30-45 mins. I was told I would get a call in a few days to let me know something and I am Now still waiting to hear back. It was all kind of redundant and they seemed to drag their feet a little. I feel kind of left out in the dark, so to speak.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Orlando, FL (took a day)
This was for a promotion. I was interviewed by the District Manager on location. Knowing the other candidates I new I was most qualified for this position. I was asked the usual questions about management style, plan for the future. Also, the DM wanted to know how long it would take to turn around this problem location. I refused to answer this question as I was not clear on the location's issues and I will not set myself up for failure.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The salary offered was far below what I was promised when first recruited to work for Pet Supermarket. I would not receive a bonus for three months even though I would be working an excessive amount of hours in order to turn around the location. All in all I was not impresssed with this DM or the company and chose to pursue a career elsewhere.

I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed May 2010 (took 2 weeks)
I think this interview has been one of the easiest interviews that I have ever gone through. It was simple and to the point, however, the setting wasn't inviting. We had three interruptions during the interview because the Store manager had to go up front and take care of some customers.
The testing was pretty simple. They gave me some personality test that was the same list of like 100 words in two different pages. The first page was to check all the words that I thought "It really described me". The second page was the same exact list of words that "I thought that I was expected to act by others"
They also gave me some Math and problem solving test with questions like "Reap is the same or opposite of sow?"
During the actual interview they asked the following questions:
The first thing I was asked was Tell me a little about yourself?
Why are you applying at Pet Supermarket?
What Retail store are do you like most? Why?
What reatil store do you dislike and why?
Tell me three things you expect when you walk into a retail store as customer service?
Why should I hire you?
Do you have reliable transportation?
Can you lift 50 lbs?
Have you ever used a cash register?
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
The employees seemed unhappy and the environment seem too stressful. If we can't even have a simple interview away from interruptions, what does that tells you???
