Interviewed Jun 2010 in New Brunswick, NJ (took 2 days)
Interviewed with PPD manager and then client's hiring manager. Management was not in the same location as the job so face to face communication requires more logistics. Actual interview was rescheduled more than once and time differences caused confusion. This was a peek into how communication with manager would be if employed within the position. Interview was very technical focused and included a lot of "give me an example of" questions.

Interviewed May 2010 (took 3 weeks)
Two telephone interviews, Flown the night before to a face to face 4 hour interview with 4 different people in Wilmington, NC in STAR behavioral format. Conducted extensive background check. Hunted down my references obsessively for a reference despite being told they were in business meetings out of town. They called 6 co-workers despite saying they only needed 4. I have now got all approvals, passed 2 skills assessment exams with 100% and 93%, passed the background check, got glowing references and now have been waiting for over a week because the VP is no longer sure there is a position available after all. I made sure by asking the recruiter the week before and she told me that they had many positions open and had not filled the training session. BTW however experienced you zare, you have to compete their CRA residential training program and if you di not pass their 8 hr exam on the last day, your job is terminated.

Interviewed Jul 2008 in Morrisville, NC (took a day)
Received an email from HR letting me know my resume was submitted to the hiring manager. Then next contact was a phone call from HR letting me know the hiring manager requested an interview with me. I scheduled a date and time for the interview. HR then emailed me PPD's benefits package to review, an Agenda for the interview including the panel of manager I were to interview with, and an applicaiton that I was to complete and bring to the interview.
On the day of the interview, I met with HR first and completed a skills test (Word, Excel). I then spoke with HR and asked a few questions about the benefits and the position. HR asked me what salary I was looking for. I didn't state a specific number....just said "I am open to negotiation."
When I arrived at the actual interview building I had to sign in and then I was sent to a conference room to meet with the panel of interviewers, which was a panal of three mangers (2 were f2f and the other was via conference call from Wilmington). .
I was asked basic interview questions:
Tell me about yourself.
How do you handle confict?
etc.
I recevied a call from HR the next day with an offer...

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Richmond, VA (took a day)
I first applied for a statistician position from PPD corporate website and then quickly got a response from PPD HR person who asked me if I was interested in a phone screening by the hiring manager. After talk to the hiring manager I was immediately invited for an on-site interview within one week of the phone interview. My impression about this interview is that Richmond might not be a good place to live and PPD
might not be an ideal company to work for.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Wilmington, NC (took 1 week)
The inital communication with the company went well. I did like the fact that the recruiter kept me informed during the entire process leading up to the face to face interview. What I did not like was following the interview they kept me hanging for quite some time. Once the decision was made they called me to tell me they wanted someone with more experience. I found this quite odd after they reviewed my resume countless times before even doing the face to face interview.
