Interview Details – First interview was on my college campus. Pretty straightforward. Basic behavioral interview questions. They called me back within one week after the interview.

During the office visit, each candidate was paired with a "buddy" who served as a mentor throughout the day.

No Offer – Interviewed in Southfield, MI Nov 2011 – Reviewed Nov 23, 2011
Interview Details – I first had a 1:1 interview which was very casual and consisted of only a few behavioral questions. It was very easy to talk to him because it was very informal. If chosen, the next step is an office visit to the office of consideration. The office visit consisted of 3 casual interviews detailing what a day at the office is like for each of the 3 individuals. There are some behavioral questions asked, but Plante is definitely an enjoyable place to interview and explore. Candidates typically hear within two weeks of the office visit.
Interview Question – Tell me about a time when you had to break bad news to a customer/client, how did you do it? Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Grand Rapids, MI Oct 2011 – Reviewed Oct 30, 2011
Interview Details – I hired in through campus. They did a first round interview then brought me in for an office visit. At the office visit I had three interviews. One with a partner, one with a manger, and one with an associate. The partner was laid back and conversational. The manager was also laid back but had to get through a couple of interpersonal questions. The associate asked purely leadership and interpersonal questions (this interview was more intense and I did not care or the style). Be sure to know your leadership style and have multiple examples of leadership situations. I had lunch with two staff auditors after the interview. I was not overly impressed with their extreme use of interpersonal questions. I have interviewed with and received offers from some of the Big 4 and Plante was definitely more intense in their questioning process.

Interview Details –
Initially met with a Plante Moran representative at a recruiter's reception on campus. From there I was selected for an on-campus interview which consisted of a 1-on-1 interview with an associate. This interview was fairly casual, basic behavioral questions. The interviewer was easy to speak with and seemed genuinely interested in meeting with me. He gave me information about himself, and his experience with the company before we even got into the actual interview. I was then selected for an office visit with several others, though I met 1-on-1 with two partners and an associate staff member. After a lunch with some partners and all the "buddies" I received an offer that evening via phone call.
I believe the initial impression made at the recruiter's reception was the first big step, but the on-campus interview was the most important to prepare for. Plante Moran, as it has been explained to me is a very friendly environment. They don't like stiff, overly formal or pushy people. An easy smile, laughter and solid intellect would be the way to go.
During the entire interview phase I never met one grumpy employee, nor one who gave me any impression of disdain. The entire company culture is very kind, flexible and rewarding.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Cleveland, OH May 2011 – Reviewed Oct 2, 2011
Interview Details – Initial phone interview was to see my goals, why plante moran, why accounting, etc. Very basic, conversation-like interview. Asked about my resume, biggest things I did at previous internships, personality questions ("tell me about a time you took initiative"). Overall it was a quick and very laid-back experience. Declined due to an offer for a better opportunity, although was difficult given the good pay (they pay their interns $21.00/hr).
