I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc..

Interview Details – Talked to them at the career fair, was contacted a few weeks later to visit their company for an on-site interview.

Interview Question – Coding in front of 2 senior software engineers was unexpected and stressful, although the questions themselves were not all too difficult.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 7 weeks - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc..

Interview Details – Initial phone interview went fine, good exchange of information. Invited over to Troy for a follow up/2nd at short notice. Had to take difficult PTO timing off work to go. Prepared well for the interview, was taken to a meeting room that others hadn't booked, then was made to wait for 20-30 minutes for the interviewer to show.
Interview was general, a little hit and miss. Followed up with recruiter who had competency based questions that seemed an add-on versus value add. Days after the interview, a brand new role was opened up in San Fransisco. "We'll be in touch for sure within a week, expect our call...". Oh right, week 1.... nothing, week 2, nothing, week 3, nothing, week 4... email... Dear xxx, sorry guys, if you want to play in the big league, start acting like big league. Shoddy and disappointing.

Software Engineer Interview

I applied through other source and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc. in September 2013.

Interview Details – Phone screen with HR manager; he actually talked much more about the company than learning about me. First interview with 2 development leads lasted about 90 minutes, including about 45 minutes of whiteboard time answering SQL programming questions (create table, joins, aggregates, etc.). Heard back from HR manager about 3 days later to schedule a second interview that would involve a written, open-ended technical test - no further hints as to the subject matter were given. Studied my butt off focusing on all potential technologies used by the company. Was pleasantly relieved (and a little annoyed since I studied so hard) that the test ended up being 5 fairly simple SQL problems to solve on a laptop. After my test was reviewed I had a nearly 2 hour meeting/conversation with the VP of software and received a verbal offer on the spot.

Interview Question – Nothing was supremely difficult, though the SQL performance tuning question on the technical test was the most difficult. The solution involved a self-referential join and improper indexing.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Very laid back, no pressure. I really liked the VPs management and negotiation style. Was able to get the salary and vacation I wanted, with no acrimony or haggling.

Project Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Irvine, CA

I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc. in June 2013.

Interview Details – I interviewed at the new Irvine CA office. The first step was a telephone interview with an HR recruiter, who then requested I fill out a personality profiler. I then had a telephone interview with the PMO manager who is based in Michigan. The HR and PMO manager asked general questions. Long telephone interviews but basically standard. I then went for an in-person at the Irvine office with a Delivery Manager and a Customer Care Consultant. Primary requirement was to present a 10 minute Power Point on a business topic. The office is just being set up although they apparently have hired a few new people who have not started yet. Both managers seemed overwhelmed. The Delivery Manager who is the senior team member (3 years) was not professional and was taking calls etc. during the interview. They asked general questions, but it felt like I was leading the interview process.

Interview Question – General questions. Interested in training, what you would do in a difficult change management situation.   View Answer

Post Implementation Project Manager Interview

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc..

Interview Details – The process began with a phone interview and then an online survey. I was contacted and asked to come back approximately a week or so later for an on-site interview. The interview was conducted by two people, a manager and a team leader. The interview was very in-depth and began with them asking me to give an overview of the highlights of my resume. I also had to be prepared to present a ten minute training session using PowerPoint. Their questions were very detailed and they asked many follow-up questions. It was a good interview. I really liked the company a lot.

Interview Question – I don't recall a difficult or unexpected question. I remember that the interviewers were very thorough and I respected that a lot.   Answer Question

Software Engineer Interview

I applied through other source and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc. in May 2012.

Interview Details – There were 3 interviews when I went through the process.

1. Phone interview with HR
- Your basic interview with HR to get a basic understanding of who you are as a person, what your background is and to see if you would be a good fit for Plex

2. Personality and Skills Assessment
- This second interview was the meat of the process, I had two senior level Plex employees asking me questions about my resume and experience, which led into the most stressful part - the "White Board Test" The skill assessment was to see how my programming skills were and also my basic logic skills. There were also some SQL related questions in this part of the assessment.

3. The Offer Interview
- This is the last interview and in hindsight, this isn't really an "interview" it's more of a meeting that includes an offer for the job

Interview Question – The "White Board Test" I was not expecting the second interview to include me standing up in front of both interviewers to answer programming and SQL related questions on a white board.   Answer Question

Interviewed at Plex Systems, Inc.

Interview Details – Went through an easy phone interview, then had a face to face. The personal questions were simple and the programming questions were basic. They seemed like they were looking for a stand out candidate, as not many positions were open at the time.

Interview Question – Some database design and SQL questions. Not too bad though.   Answer Question
