Selling Manager Interview

Anonymous Employee

I applied in-person and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Polo Ralph Lauren.

Interview Details – I went to the store and asked for positions available. I interviewed twice about a week later and got called with a job offer two weeks later. The pace of the store is very hectic and the culture is very brand oriented.

Interview Question – There wasn't anything out the normal. The usual difficult question asked in an interview is what the biggest opportunities are for the individual.   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Polo Ralph Lauren in February 2014.

Interview Details – The hiring process was pretty fast and took about a week! When I first got there I didn't have to wait they got me in and out so it was very brief. Judging from the work environment I saw, it is very corporate but you can tell the employees are pretty happy working there!

Interview Question – There wasn't any difficult questions but you must remain completely composed and confident. That is my best advice for any question they ask you.   Answer Question

Corporate Intern Interview

I applied through college or university and the process took 6 weeks - interviewed at Polo Ralph Lauren in February 2013.

Interview Details – Applied online through campus recruiting. Accepted online and signed up for a 1 on 1 interview with their HR rep. All behavioral questions, not difficult. Lots of emphasis on teamwork. Did not hear back for six weeks, but got a call from HR asking to set up a phone interview with a representative from a department they thought I was a good fit for. More behavioral questions, a bit harder since it was the department you would be working with. The first one did not accept me, but a second phone interview was set up with a different department with a similar phone interview. Not too difficult. Being a team sport athlete and a male is also very helpful for a fashion company. Much more difficult for women to get their foot in the door.

Interview Question – Tell me about a time where you were in a group and had opposing ideas about something. How did you work through that?   Answer Question

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Polo Ralph Lauren in December 2012.

Interview Details – Contacted by department manager for initial interview. Interviewed lasted about 30 minutes which included a tour of the store. Questions were your routine sales questions. Second Interview was with General Manager and that took about 30 minutes as well. For the most part it was the usual retail questions but she did stress being able to deal with conflict between associates. I would definitely recommend looking the part...they stress that very much. So research the look and esthetic of Ralph Lauren.

Interview Question – How are you with handling conflict with co-workers.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – None
