Interviewed Dec 2010 in Greensboro, NC (took 3 weeks)
Bring names, numbers, and addresses for your references as you will fill out a typical application regardless of the pre-screening process. Communication after the interview was not always as promised, but was better than many companies. Some mixed messages - was told numerous times by multiple interviewers that there was a major sense of urgency to fill the position and get started, but process did not reflect that.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Vero Beach, FL (took 2 days)
Typically they do group interviews when hiring people. However, I was given a one on one interview. Make sure you are dressed well and you speak well. It helps if you know a foreign language.

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 7 weeks)
Start of met with 2 HR staff, US and JP nationals. No Japanese used in that interview. General get to know me and get to know Ralf Lauren.
Next stage was multiple tests including Excel, personality, Japanese language, mathematics (in Japanese).
Final stage was another panel interview with the 2 heads of Japan. 2 foreign guys, very nice, relaxed but gave tough questions.
Problem was it took them a very long time to get back to me, by which time I had found another offer worth +30% more salary. They did not even give me any interview feedback, just silence. So I was very surprised when they made me the offer. I had considered it dead. If a company takes this long to communicate with you, it means they have a very slow functioning HR department, or... other people rejected their offer and I was a bit down the list. Which says something.

Reason for Declining
The pay was terrible. I could find more money walking around Tokyo looking in the coin slots of vending machines, to see if anyone had left anything by mistake.

Interviewed Apr 2009 (took a day)
I was contacted by an HR Recruiter to set up a interview with the Hiring Manager the next day. I thought the interview went well. It lasted and hour and 15 min. Then I had a second interview the same day with an HR Recruiter, which I thought went well too. I have yet to obtain a job offer.

Interviewed Jun 2010 (took 2 days)
Set up a telephone interview with HR in New York that delved into my resume. Followed up about two weeks later with a series of 1:1 interviews with HR and stores leadership in NY. Process was smooth, coordinated and professional. I had two behavioral interviews (one of which was more challenging than the other) and two background interviews to determine fit. Followed up with an online questionnaire that asked about leadership style and personal ethics (specific to drugs, lying and theft.)
Advice is pretty standard: Project confidence and brand relevance, prepare for tough behavioral questions, don't fill in silence with chatter, and don't BS when questions test the limits of your experience/knowledge.

Interviewed Oct 2008 in Carlsbad, CA (took 2 weeks)
Initially, i had walked in looking to see if they were hiring. This was around the holiday season, so they were looking for positions to fill. I had applied as a sales associate but then i was hired as a cashier. The interview was very straight forward, nothing to complicated. It consisted of just a 1:1 interview and after and assessment test.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in New York, NY (took 2 days)
Horrible experience. After being considered one of their "top contenders", they never returned a single phone call for 5 months. They pay next to nothing for hard labor which usually results in un-payed and unrecognized overtime. Interview consisted of annoying boasting of their multicultural outreach and important brand name. Who cares about that if they treat their employees (and potentials) like trash anyway?

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took 2 weeks)
Go into the store to ask for an application. After working for the company, I learned that online applications sort of get lost is cyber land. I received a phone call for an initial interview. I met with a department manager first. Then I got another call back for a second interview with the general manager and the department manager. A few days later, I was hired.
