Interviewed Apr 2011 in Jersey City, NJ (took 1 week)
Submitted my resume online and was contacted by one of the engineers. Had an interview with 2 engineers and it was basically a formality. They didn't ask too many questions and after the interview made me fill out a paper application along with background information. Was offered the position within the week.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Newark, NJ (took 2 days)
First, met with the engineering department, two engineers (mid-level and senior-level). This interview was for a summer internship. They asked questions about the classes I was taking, no technical or behavioral questions at all. Second, met with HR for a 1:1 interview. A few questions about why I wanted to work for PA, ...tell me about a time when a job was frustrating and what did you do? etc. Got the offer the same day.

Negotiation Details
The offer was really good, above the average although this is a goverment agency. They paid was about $20/hr whereas companies like Turner and Skanska pay less than $17/hr to their summer interns.

Made initial contact at a career fair. Was called the next day for an interview. First interviewed by HR, then interviewed with prospective Manager and one of his direct reports. Was called several days later with an offer. Asked if the salary could be increased. Received a call back; salary was agreed upon, a hire date was set and an offer letter was sent.

The interview only consisted of a 1:1 interview with an HR representative at NY. I applied online in their website and received a call and emails confirming the date of the interview. The interview was mixed with behavioral questions and expectations from working at the company.
Questions such as:
Why would you want to work at Port Authority.
