Development Associate at Praxair

Posted Mar 18, 2009

Difficult Interview
Overall Neutral Experience Interviewed and No Offer

Interviewed Nov 2007 in Tonawanda, NY (took a day)

Praxair's interview process is a finely tuned machine: you usually have a screen interview (phone, or on-campus interview) then you can move on to the on-site interview. You typically have a full day scheduled and an interview diner the night before with the recruiting manager. During the interview day, you start with a presentation in front of the interviewing team then move on to the 1:1 interviews. You meet with peers, managers, and HR. Each interviewer is given the task to probe you on one or two skill set related to the job you are interviewing for. Those are situation-type questions: give me an example when... The team usually meets privately either at the end of the day or shortly afterwards to rank you and decide whether to keep you in the loop or not. They can make you wait quite a long time before giving you a decision (as they evaluate other candidates).
