Interviewed Jun 2011 in Groton, CT (took a day)
I received a called from the Human Resources (HR) department to set up a date and time for an interview.
I arrived promptly with copies of my resume and cover letter. After a breif wait, a young woman from HR greeted me and led me to a room, which was rather noisy from activity outside the room, which I found very distracting. Once we sat down, the woman asked if I had brought a copy of my resume. I handed her a copy and waited while she breifly reviewed it. Then she said, "Walk me through your resume, starting with your most recent position." In essence, I had to give her my employment history, but backwards. I did it, but have to confess, not very well. Most people tell their stories from the beginning not the end. It was difficult and, I thought, unfair. She did asked a couple more quesitons but nothing about my accomplishments, my work responsiblities, or how I interact with others or solve problems. it felt very much like a game of "gotcha." I received a "thanks but no thanks" letter in the mail 3 days later.
My impression of the worksite was that most of the employees were in their 20's and 30's, including the receptionist who took my name to the 2 women who interviewed me. I can't help but wonder if age was a factor (I'm in my 50's) or maybe I'm just a sore loser.
