R&D Engineer Interview

R&D Engineer

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Procter & Gamble.

Interview Details – The hiring and interview process is a mult-staged process. The first stage is an online assessement, then there is an interview via phone, and the final stage is a day visit at one of the locations. Although the process was long, it is worth it. One of the best interviews I have had and the interactions with the current employees during the day visit made the process worth it. You really get to experience the 'soul' of the company and sense of community among the employees. You will need to answer honestly and come prepared with questions.

Interview Question – The questions were expected; there are not interested in the "gotcha" type of question. I recall the question about your greatest strength and greatest weakness.   Answer Question

I applied through college or university and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Procter & Gamble in December 2013.

Interview Details – Once you send in your resume and cover letter, a recruiter will contact you and give you documents to study. They have a lengthy interview process and want you to learn their specific 3-step method to answering questions where you talk about Context, Action then Result. Just memorize 10 or so personal experience scenarios and rehearse explaining them as CAR then adapt them to all the questions. I think professional, if somewhat predictable, and well-rehearsed answers are what they are looking for so don't get too creative.

Interview Question – Their questions are really not very unexpected. They actually give you a full list of questions, but if you have CAR down it adapts to everything. Although you should also take time to learn about the company as there will be some trivia on that.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Better offer elsewhere

Assistant Brand Manager Interview

Assistant Brand Manager

I applied through college or university and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Procter & Gamble in October 2013.

Interview Details – Applied online through school recruiting in October and was invited to take the Success Drivers Test online. A few days after, I was contacted for a 1 on 1 interview on-campus. The interview was a general behavioral interview strictly following the CAR (Context, Action, Result) format. The interview was about 30 minutes long, and the interviewer writes down detailed notes about your responses in exactly CAR format. Therefore, it's crucial to answer in CAR. About 2 weeks after the interview, I received an email saying that my interview was positive and that they would provide an update on my status in 60 days. In mid-december, I received an e-mail saying that this opportunity was no longer available. False hopes?

Interview Question – None were specifically difficult. All were general behavioral questions.   Answer Question
