Interviewed May 2011 (took 2+ weeks)
The first is to get past the resume drop. Once done you would do a telephone interview. That is simple. Next you would go to the nearest Progressive facility to take a knowledge test of basic knowledge. Finally you would go to a headquarters for the area and would do an in person interview with a manager. Wasn't difficult but was a long process.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Woburn, MA (took 4+ weeks)
The hiring process is very structured. You apply online. If they are interested in you they will have you complete a test. If you pass the test the will schedule a phone screening with an hr rep. The hr rep will determine who moves on to the manager interviews. If you make it to a manger interview you will likely meet with two managers at the same time. The will ask you targeted selection questions. It is best to answer using the STAR format (Situation Task Action taken Results) you can google target selection questions to prepare for the interview. Be prepared to answer negative question ex. ( tell me about a time that you didn't complete a project that you were assigned).
If you are selected from the manager interview they will the finish completing the background check before making a formal offer. This can sometimes take an addititional week or two depending on your former employers.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Houston, TX (took 2 weeks)
Applied through my university, the next day received an email to do a pre-employment test. Passed it, got a call to schedule a phone interview. Passed the phone interview, she scheduled a one on one interview for a month later in the city of my choice. Did that interview on a Friday and got the call that Monday with a job offer. I accepted it. The one on one interview was very easy to me at least. The behavioral questions are pretty easy to nail if you study ahead of time online and figure out what you are going to say for the actual interview. They also like it if you have a high GPA if you are coming right out of college, which I do. I start after graduation at the end of May.

I was given a pay range in the interview process and was offered the highest in that pay range so i didn't feel the need to negotiate. It's pretty good compared to what the market pays in Texas.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Mount Laurel, NJ (took 4 weeks)
Once you apply online, you are emailed to take an online skills test. If you "pass" that test, you then are called to schedule a phone interview. From the phone interview, you are then called back and either given the answer on whether they liked you to go on forward to the 1 on 1 interview. 1 on 1 interview, than either hired or not.

First there was a phone screening, then a computer test with various questions that tested a little of personality and intelligence, then a face to face interview. During the face to face interview they ask STAR (situation, task, action, and resolution questions).
