Their process is very painful. You have to come in 5 or 6 times and meet with many people that you will never see again. The process is terrible and makes to want to quite and tell them to keep their job.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Cleveland, OH (took 6+ weeks)
It was actually 2 1 on 1 interviews the same day with a 30 min sit in with an employee taking phone calls. The Interview was pretty standard mostly questions about prior work experiences. The first lady who interviewed me seemed pretty inexperienced. she kept asking for specific examples of stuff I did at previous jobs which was fine but she wasn't satisfied until I could give names and dates of when these extraneously specific examples took place (and we're talking about minor events from 5-6 years ago), but no problem just plug in some made up names and dates off to the next stage. The second interview was much more professional and went really well.
The atmosphere in the call center was really relaxed and they offered some pretty cool perks and the entry level pay was pretty fair. expect to send a resume, then fill out a lengthy application then a 1 hour phone interview, Then a excessive background check, then you visit for 2 1on1 interviews. They called me almost immediately to move me on to the next phase after I completed any part of the hiring process.
Be prepared, the 3rd party background check company will expect you to provide W2 forms from your previous employers rather than contacting them directly and will still take about 30 days to complete. This is where I ran into trouble. After my in person interviews I was called by my recruiter telling me that everything went well and they were just waiting to hear back from the background check before the could make and offer and schedule their drug test. When they received the the background report they told me they "could not move forward with me because of discrepancies on my background check" and could not give me any further information. They did send me a copy of the report and all my info checked out except for a minor job at a BW's 6 years ago that has since closed. And that I have a misdemeanor disorderly conduct from when i was in college. The application only asked about felonies and topic never came up. So I can only conclude that they don't like anyone with a minor legal infraction. Anyway moral of the story don't make mistakes and if you do get your record sealed before you apply.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Mayfield Heights, OH (took 2 weeks)
I felt as though Progressive was a little slow with their methods on getting through the interview process. When I originally applied they closed the offer for the position that was open, then reopened it again so I had to reapply through a different agency. Afterwards, I had to take the online personality test and then if you pass that they will request a phone interview for you a few days later. After the phone interview it took a week for them to get back to the agency and request an interview a few days after that. The people seemed to be laid back and the interviewer will ask you difficult questions. My interpretation is that they were in search of someone with in the field experience rather than just a college graduate and a certification.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Cleveland, OH (took 2 days)
Interview process went as expected very through and direct difficult questions were asked, also some simple personality questions were asked as well, However when it got to the background check portion this is where the interview process seem to fall apart. They used a company based in california that just absolutely does not know how to verify the accuracy of the information they are reporting.

The first interview was from HR. It was about an hour long. It used the STAR method of behavioral question. You are not permitted to use stories that are not from the business world. One of them was to tell about a mistake that you made./ I had never had tht one before.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Mayfield Heights, OH (took 2 months)
After completing a short online basic skills test, I received an email that I was to be further considered for the position. It took two months and numerous email inquiries later in order to get a phone interview; of which I was never given a formal decision. Apparently the HR Representative couldn't even send a letter denying the position, which is just tacky.

Didn't pass the personality assessment. Not sure what they are looking for, but I have never been turned down for a job based on the personality test, and I am confident that I did well on the IQ test. At least the recruiter let me know right away the results and that Progressive wasn't going to consider me.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Cleveland, OH (took 2+ weeks)
2 days after applying online I was emailed and asked to take a Pre-employment test, basically an online logic and skills/interests test that takes 30 to 60 minutes to complete. It is timed and I think I had a maximum of 90 minutes to complete the test. They liked my results and the next day I was contacted by email for a 1-hour phone screen with an HR representative. In my past experience, normally this is the easy part of the interviewing process since HR reps tend to ask more general questions, but in this case it was 1 hour of general behavioral questions. Luckily I had looked up questions online beforehand and some responses ready.
I was then scheduled for a 2 hour in-person interview, 1 hour each with a group of 2 people. This is the part of the interview that seemed REALLY tedious - I felt like I was basically grilled for 2 1/2 hours with behavioral questions focusing on past analyses and data. I had not prepared for this in-depth of questioning and had trouble recalling all the specific data sets I worked with and what sort of analysis techniques I used on each column of data. The questions seemed a bit over the top to me and the interview also seemed one-sided, where they grilled me with questions but there was no time left for me to ask questions of the interviewers.
