Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 8 weeks)
I applied in January 2012. I applied and was contacted to do a phone interview. I did well on the phone interview and I was told I did well enough to do an in person interview. I was also informed I needed to pass a background check. It took about a week for my background check to be completed and by the time I was job. I initially applied for had been filled. They offered to let me interview for another position. I went to the interview and received a call back the same day with a job offer.!!

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Phoenix, AZ (took 1 week)
This is a difficult interview process because of how much you have to go through. It consists of a test that you must pass, a phone interview, and two face to face interviews. They want all there questions to be answered in STAR format ( situation, task, action, result) and they will ask you about 20 of them. They also have you shadow with someone on the floor so you can get a sense of what the job entails. Be sure to come with examples of situations you've been in in the past as this makes it a lot easier when they start asking you questions. Also do your research on the company beforehand as one of the first questions they ask you is "what can you tell me about progressive"

Negotiation is pretty straight forward. They pay anywhere from 12-14 an hour and what you get all depends on how well you interview and if you've had any prior experience.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Rancho Cordova, CA (took 4+ weeks)
I have six and a half years of call center experience so I applied for the Customer Service Representative position on progressive's website. After applying a day later I recieved a email to take two pre-employment test, I took the test and the next day recieved another email informing me that I passed. A week later I recieve a call to schedule a phone interview and went over some behavior question with the recruiter. Exactly a week later I had my phone interview which lasted about 45mins(It could possibly go up to an hour & half). I checked my progress online and seen that i had made to the last and final step of the hiring process which was the 1;1 interview with two of progressive's hiring manager and a 30min sit in. I recieve a call to set up my 1;1 which took place on 1/16/12. both interviews last up to an hour each one of mine went about 50mins then I did a hour sit-in listening to calls because the second individual that interviewed me forgot I was even their(Smdh!!) I recieved a call yesterday 1/23/12 that I was passed over for other candidates(11 open positions and I couldn't get one lol) Overall the experience was so so I would have liked to work for progressive but it seems from the reviews I have read they do not want anyone experienced!! Good luck to those apply and going through the hiring proccess!!

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took 3 weeks)
I applied online, was contacted 2 weeks later to take online assessment. Passed it and was called to schedule a phone interview. In between time I was sent many emails to update application and had to submit paperwork for backgroud check to prove start and end dates of past jobs. It was somewhat frustrating having to find w2s and information to a background check company who should have access to all the information they need. Finally, on the phone interview, it started ith general questions and then behavioral. First question: What do you know about Progressive? Why Progressive? How did you hear about this position? What did you do at each job on resume and what did you like most and least about each one? Some Behavioral STAR method questions were: A time you had to learn something new, A time a customer had a bad experience with company, how did you handle it? A job where you had goals to reach. I'm waiting to hear back about next step process which is a face to face interview.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Phoenix, AZ (took 2 weeks)
First a recuiter calls and gives you a phone interview, usually last between 1-1.5 hours. If you pass the interview you go on to take an assessment test on site. If you pass the test you move on to 2 face to face interviews. The interviews are for the same day and last at least 1.5 hours each. If you are chosen at that point you have to pass a background check and you're in.

Interviewed May 2011 in Riverview, FL (took 3 weeks)
If they like your application then you complete an online test, then a phone interview and if you pass that you'll do an in person interview with two different managers & sit with a representative to listen to calls. The questions require 3 part answers; what was the situation? What action did you take? What was the outcome? You'll answer about 10 of these on your phone interview then about 15-20 during your in person interview. They want *specific* examples of situations you encountered. I left the interview confident I'd get an offer only to get a phone call saying they did not want to hire me because the managers reported they had a hard time getting answers out of me...which I honestly don't feel was the case. The atmosphere was very relaxed, most people in jeans/shorts & t-shirts. Everyone I came in contact with during the lengthy process was very nice, even the security! I don't feel like their judgment is on point, but it is what it is. My perception of the company as a whole has changed entirely.

Interviewed May 2011 in Riverview, FL (took 2 days)
This company is constantly advertising for employee's and I have been through their testing many times. I've been in the call center business since 1998 and more than qualified for their position. I went to their Riverview location for the wonderlics testing and the IQ portion I found easy and common sensical. Out of 15 people about 5 remained after that test so be ready for it. The second computer based test was about 90 get to know you - yes - no- strongly agree - questions like-
Do you have call center experience -yes
Do you have more than 6 experience -yes
Do you like people -yes
Do you like helping people -yes
Do you like helping other employees -yes
Have you ever trained other employees -yes
Do you have any sales experience -yes
Do you like to sell -yes
After this portion of the test it was my turn to be dismissed and the wonderlics guy called me back into the small testing room and explained that based on my responses I was not what they were looking for and I could reapply and take the test again in May. So in May I could not even log into the website and had to create a new profile. I had to use a alternate email address and the links for the testing went to the wrong e-mail address.
Then I get a call from the Wonderlics Guy saying they liked my resume and asked me to complete the testing. During the converation we figured out the links went to the wrong email addr and he offered to resend them and found my original profile. But instead of resending the links I got a email stating I was no longer under consideration. What ever the problem is they do not want to talk about they just hide behind the software.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Austin, TX (took 2 weeks)
Online application and testing then emails to schedule in office IQ and personality tests. The testing proctor then schedules the phone interview. The call was on time the interviewer was cold and flat and continually sighed and sucked her teeth. Guess she didn't like my Star format responses!

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Riverview, FL (took 3 days)
Two phone interviews, one computer test (basic math, grammer, computer navigation skills, personality, not difficult at all) two inperson interviews (each an hour long). For the inperson interviews have specific examples of past achievements. They like many other companies are using the STAR format (Situation, Task, Achievement, Results if that's right, I can't remember for sure) so be very specific.
