Interviewed Dec 2011 in Yonkers, NY (took 4 weeks)
Saw the position on indeed.com. I summited my resume and within 2 days I got an email from the company to take an IQ testand behavioral test. Was fairly easy. If you pass you get an email a few hours later. They email and call you to schedule a phone interview which happens about a week and a half later.
The phone interview they say is about 1hr long but it could last 30 min. They dont email u or anything for another week and a half to schedule a 1 on 1 interview.
The 1 on 1 interview was a BIG JOKE. He didnt seem interested in hiring me. when he asked me a question and i answered it I noticed he rolled his eyes.
He spent about 30 min mostly spoking about himself, wife, kids and his experiences and what he went thru in his old job and progressive . He didn't ask me about my background, education, why you want to for progressive nor what i can bring to the table.
He didnt even want to shake my hand when i left his office. Worst experience so far.
Questions.
1. Did you ever go behound the call of duty for a customer?
2. Did you ever supervise a group of people
3. Tell me about your previous jobs
4. If there was one thing you can change from your previous employement what would it be
5. Have you ever negotiated before?
6. Do you wind working saturdays and also in the field. (work outside)
7. What was the best experience you had with a customer.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Cleveland, OH (took a day)
The first interview was from HR. It was about an hour long. It used the STAR method of behavioral question. You are not permitted to use stories that are not from the business world. One of them was to tell about a mistake that you made./ I had never had tht one before.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Lees Summit, MO (took 5 weeks)
- Completed an online application & uploaded a resume + cover letter @ Progressive's careers website
- Took an exam which was 1/3 IQ test (mostly simple mathematics word problems, timed but w/sufficient time provided) and 2/3 temperment test.
- Participated in a 60-minute phone interview (approximately 1 week later) that was almost entirely comprised of STAR format questions; the interviewer (a Progressive talent recruiter) was patient and engaging, the questions were challenging; @ the conclusion of the interview, the recruiter gave me information about the job functions and starting salary; she said she wanted to move forward w/an on-site interview and set an appt for me.
- Completed an extensive application for my background check (every job I've ever had? Every place I've ever lived?) and a background check that took several weeks and a half-dozen information requests w/follow up emails.
- Participated in a 45-minute on-site interview (approximately 1 week later) that included another 8 STAR questions; the interviewer (a senior supervisor @ the local office) was personable and informative. @ the conclusion of the interview, he advised me that he would reach a decision after w/my recruiter's input.
- I received a call from the talent recruiter (approximately 2 weeks after my on-site interview) and was informed that another candidate had be given the position.
- I was offered and accepted the supervisor's feedback: he was impressed w/my problem-solving and customer service skills but was concerned that my meticulous nature would effect my processing speed. I was impressed with his insight and - although he was probably right - was disappointed that I wouldn't get the opportunity to prove him wrong.
I have never prepared so hard & interviewed so well and NOT received a job offer. But the Progressive interviewing experience really was a valuable process that took my interviewing skills - particularly the STAR format element - to a higher level (as I've been able to demonstrate in subsequent interviews with other companies).

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
The interview process was awesome, and fast. I applied online, completed the online test, and recieved a phone call the next day to schedule a phone interview. She was SUPER nice on the phone, very pleasant to talk to. Got a call after that to schedule a 1:1 interview. She was also SUPER nice. I was very nervous at first, but she was very easy to talk to. 4 days later, recieved a job offer over the phone, and accepted.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 6 weeks)
I first met the Progressive recruiters at a University Career Fair and followed up with an online application. Within minutes of filling out the application I received an email prompting me to take an online test which consisted of mathematical and work preference questions. After taking the test, I received an email saying that I passed it and would be contacted for an interview. I was called the next day and scheduled an interview. The recruiter who scheduled the interview was very helpful and eased me into the process giving me pointers on what to study up for and sending me an email with a link that showed their most common behavioral questions. The phone interview was pretty standard and felt more like a conversation than an interview. It was my first interview of the kind so I was a bit nervous at first but the tone of the interviewer and the type of questions she asked helped me to relax. At the end of the interview she told me that she would promote me for the next step which is a 1:1 on site interview about a month and a half out. She also said that the background process would take a while and that I should expect some emails directing me to answer questions about my work background. The phone interview took place about two weeks ago and I have yet to receive word from the recruiter confirming the on site interview or see any background emails.

- last for about an hour so prepare but don't get too worked up about these questions as they didn't ask the most difficult behavioral-based questions when I was interviewed

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Mayfield Heights, OH (took 2 months)
After completing a short online basic skills test, I received an email that I was to be further considered for the position. It took two months and numerous email inquiries later in order to get a phone interview; of which I was never given a formal decision. Apparently the HR Representative couldn't even send a letter denying the position, which is just tacky.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Phoenix, AZ (took 2 weeks)
First a recuiter calls and gives you a phone interview, usually last between 1-1.5 hours. If you pass the interview you go on to take an assessment test on site. If you pass the test you move on to 2 face to face interviews. The interviews are for the same day and last at least 1.5 hours each. If you are chosen at that point you have to pass a background check and you're in.
