Interviewed Feb 2012 in Huntsville, AL (took a day)
The woman who was originally supposed to interview forgot and left for the day after my 30 minute drive. I had to be interviewed by a manager from another department who knew nothing about the job I was being interviewed for, so none of my questions could be answered. He was even talking about sending me home and having me return another day. I told him I would much rather get everything I could done that day because of the drive. I then had to talk with the store manager for a sort of mini interview. I accepted the position because I really needed the job. There was a two day orientation class. The first day was a 6 and a half hour class talking about the history of Publix and customer service. The second day was about safety and it lasted about 5 and a half hours. It was very informative and the instructor was wonderful. It was just boring, as many orientation sessions tend to be. I was not very happy with the interview process, but I am very excited about my new job.

Negotiation Details
There was not much room for negotiation on an hourly rate. They were already offering a dollar more than a chart on the wall said that they normally offer a part-time bakery clerk. I have a day during the week that I cannot work due to school, and they were very willing to work around that.
Other Details
I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took a day)
After applying online for a seasonal associate for SW Florida retail stores thru a flyer at my local Publix. Online application was easy, with questions and resume download. Contacted a a week later for group interview at a local hotel. Large venue with tables set up, you are sent to a table with a manager from a different location that you were applying for. Straight forward questions in a friendly atmosphere, lasted 10 minutes. A few weeks later , received an email and phone call to schedule and interview at the local store I was chosen for..Arrived, met friendly manager-Asked a few questions where I would like to work, my background, my future....Given Drug test and offered job on the spot. Great expeirence. Hired.
