Interviewed Jul 2011 in Tampa, FL (took 4 months)
I was contacted by a national search firm about the job in April (its now August). About a month or so later, HR called me to interview with the new CFO who liked me and promised a second interview. Some weeks later, HR called again and I spent about an hour interviewing over the phone. The next day, I visited HQ again and had face to face interviews with the rest of the management team. Was told it would be a week or so to a decision and they wanted me to interview another new incoming CFO, which I did later that week on his last day at the old company. Was told it would be a few days to a week to hear something. After 2-3 weeks, called and was told another few weeks. As of today, I called again and was told another couple of weeks, no one hired yet, still a leading candidate, but have now re-posted the job and have 70 odd resumes to review.
Bottom line is that I have spent 4 months interviewing with 6 different people while they have had 3 different CFO's and still they haven't made a decision about someone to lead their credit and collections team. They were spun off Quality Distribution a couple years ago and have done a couple acquisitions since then and needed someone to set policies and procedures in place (or so I was told). The people were all nice, great location, and seemingly modern office, but I am now having doubts about the abilities of the management team to make a simple hiring decision, to say nothing of having 3 CFO's in such a short time. Not sure that whoever gets this job will be able to be effective given their decision making process.
