I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Rainbow Media (Bethpage, NY) in December 2014.

    Interview

I received a call from the Director of Talent Acquisition who ran down my resume with me before passing it on - or in the trash. He asked me what my salary expectations were and we settled at a midpoint. The recruiter followed up with me a couple of weeks later and setup an onsite interview. I traveled over 150 miles and met with the recruiter and Manager of Employee Relations on Friday afternoon. I thought the interview went well. There wasn't really much to that phase outside of sharing further insight about the organization. I then met with the hiring manager for a one-on-one. The interview went well enough that he offered me the position on the spot or as he put it, "I recognize talent when I see it," and we made a "gentleman's agreement." On Monday, I sent out thank you letters to each person I met with and re-confirmed that I accepted the "gentleman's agreement" with my future boss, the hiring manager. I also realized that the hiring manager was out of the office for the day by his out of office email reply. Late Tuesday morning, I received a call from the Director of Talent Acquisition informing me that he felt I didn’t have enough technical ability or culture to support the hiring manager (who knew talent when he saw it and made a verbal offer). The only positive outcome is that I realized the dysfunction of the organization prior to uprooting my family. No harm, no foul, just a complete waste of my time and energy. Run if you can. Their word means nothing.

    Front End Developer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Rainbow Media (New York, NY) in August 2014.

    Interview

Interviews began organically and things went well. The role was a good fit personally and skill-wise. However the HR process was very disappointing. HR did not set expectations about the necessary steps and timeline needed to complete the process. I had to contact them multiple times to figure out what to do next and after constant delays from them. After many back-and-forths and my new boss assuming I was making the delays, I informed them about the realities of the arduous process. They almost immediately retracted the offer because 'I did not complete the necessary steps within a week,' when I wasn't informed of what needed to be done. In reality, I believe they were upset that I stood up for myself and therefore tried to find a loophole to get rid of me. I am glad to not have spent my energy and time trying to work for a company like this. There are much better jobs available to designers and developers in a city filled with huge companies, thriving startups and a healthy freelance community.

    Traffic Coordinator Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Miami, FL
    Accepted Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency – interviewed at Rainbow Media (Miami, FL) in August 2013.

    Interview

I was brought in by an Temporary Employment Agency. I was there to do a temporary assignment, since the supervisor was pregnant and will eventually would go to maternity leave. Also the amount of work was increasing with the new changes taking place.

    Interview Questions

    • Would you like to become a permanent employee? The salary increase was $1 per hour, but will be part of a recognized company with numerous benefits to enjoy.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

It was easy, they held series of meetings to explain the new upcoming benefits. What they forgot to say, you would have barely any time to enjoy it. All the stress that was brought upon every one has not helped employee morale.
