    Interview Details

I filled out the online application and got a call a couple days later asking to set up an interview. The manager who interviewed me was very friendly and she asked me why I wanted to work at Ralphs and also told me some details about the position I was applying for. It really felt more like a conversation.

Was told I was the diamond in all 80 applications. It took forever to start because i had to go to Orientation, when they never showed us how to use phones, paging, etc. We were trained not in our store, so not the same.

It was more of a run down of the position. The online app sorts out who's good for the job or not. So if you get a call you're pretty much hired. They just tell you what you'll do and that you'll always get at least 16 hours a week. Then they'll ask if you want the position.

Applied online, got a call back about a week later from the front end manager wanting to set up an interview. The interview wasn't difficult, I basically just had a conversation with the fem and was hired then and there. All very friendly, no pressure situation

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Ralphs.

    Interview Details

The hiring process was very easy. Filled out an application, was called to set up an interview time about a week later, then was hired at the end of the interview. The time from applying to training took about two weeks.

I could sense there was a high turnaround, lots of employees come and go. Especially those on the lower end of the power structure.

    Interview Questions
    • No question stood out. We mostly discussed my answer to, "Tell me about yourself."   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Ralphs in January 2014.

    Interview Details

The interview was more of a conversation than an interview. They were very impressed with my work history. I was told their starting wage. Told about the benefits. The interviewer was very friendly & professional. I asked questions regarding chance for cross training in other departments and promotions within the store. I was satisfied by most of their answers. Think I caught them off guard.

    Interview Questions
    • There really wasn't any question that was unexpected or difficult to answer. The most difficult part, for me was the low rate of pay. The Interviewer did ask a lot of questions regarding my extensive experience and wanted to know why I wanted to work at this location.   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
Had to get Directors approval. They showed me the pay rate scale. for each pay increase you have to work X number of hours. The level they started me at takes an employee a total of 4,200 hours. Since it is part time, an average of 30/hours a week that works out to 140 weeks. That breaks down to 2 years & 9 months! Hard to believe.
but true. I pulled out my calculator & did the math right there in front of them. I did ask them a lot of questions regarding cross training in different departments & promotions
within the store. They were vague.
