Senior Analyst at Raymond James & Associates

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Saint Petersburg, FL Jan 2010 – Reviewed Jan 26, 2013

Interview Details – Fairly straightforward process, I had a phone screen with HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, then flew out to interview and take some tests (wonderlic, personality, etc.). I interviewed with my manager and 3 other senior members of the organization, had lunch with my manager, and that was it. Mostly fit type questions, with a few technical ones thrown in.

Interview Question – None really, although I did have to interview with a C-level executive, and wasn't expecting that.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Minimal negotiations, they offered the number I was looking for, and a small sign on bonus to cover relocation. Vacation starts at 10 days for all new employees, so you may want to negotiate more.

Interview Details – I am currently in the process of relocating to FL. Received email from branch about opportunity. I was handed a 12 minute aptitude test that nothing with the industry and was never asked any questions about my skills and qualifications. I received an email later in the afternoon that the position was filled.

Interview Details – I went through 2 interviews with Raymond James for a full time compliance position. I took a personality test and other test requirements for the position. Equity Research Associate at Raymond James & Associates

No Offer – Interviewed in Atlanta, GA Dec 2011 – Reviewed Apr 16, 2012

Interview Details – Had an initial phone interview with the Sr. Analyst and asked me to complete a brief overview of a company. After I submitted my analysis I had another conversation with the Sr. Analyst. After that I was asked to come into the office to meet with the Sr. Analyst and two Associate's. The questions were mostly centered around my interest in the markets. The conversation quickly turned to my knowledge of technicals (ROE v. Operating Margin; how to compute depreciation, definitions and usage of key multiples EBITDA, EV/EBITDA, etc.)

Overall, the interview was fairly laid back and really just wanted to see if i had a strong interest in the stock market and if I knew some fairly basic accounting and valuation principles.

Options Program at Raymond James & Associates

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Saint Petersburg, FL Feb 2011 – Reviewed Mar 15, 2011

Interview Details – Very informal interview process. Their main concern is about acquiring the best person with the right attitude that fits the culture at the firm. I stumbled upon Raymond James at a career fair, had an in-person interview the next day, was given a call to fly down for final rounds. Everybody I came into contact with was great, genuine, and good-hearted. Final round was a dinner the first night and then interviewing/IQ testing the next day. The interviewing is all behavioral but the more it turns into a conversation, the better chance you have. The test is pretty simple stuff but the time limits you have are what makes it tough (30 questions in 2 mins.) We took the Wonderlic as well.

All in all, I really liked the interview process. It was fun and refreshing compared to other ones. I received an offer over Spring Break which was great and I accepted.

Interview Question – What is an LBO? (I took an LBO class so it stemmed from my resume)   Answer Question

IT Product Manager at Raymond James & Associates

No Offer – Interviewed in Tampa, FL Jul 2010 – Reviewed Aug 3, 2010

Interview Details – I was contacted by Raymond James to schedule a phone interview about 10 days after I applied for the position. The initial contact was very quick to just define available days and times for the phone interview. The recruiter at Raymond James contacted me at the scheduled time to conduct the interview. She asked very typical interview questions such as:
What skills do you think you could bring to the organization?
What are your strengths/weaknesses?
Can you describe a time when you were involved in a team decision making process and what was your role in that interaction?
What do you like about your job today?

Interview Questions

  • Can you tell me about a specific time when you had to manage internal or external expectations?   Answer Question
  • Can you name a time when you had a demanding task and whether you were satisfied or dissatisfied with the outcome?   Answer Question

Trade Support Associate at Raymond James & Associates

No Offer – Interviewed in Tampa, FL Jun 2008 – Reviewed Jun 9, 2010

Interview Details – I was contacted by phone and was set up with an interview the next week. Once I arrived I was give an application. You must sign a form releasing your transcripts. Then they give you a basic IQ test which focuses on patterns, comprehensions, and math skills. If you have not gone over long division and multiplication in a while it would be a plus to review. The two interviewers were very nice and the 1:2 interview went very well. I though I did great, but I did not have any experience so they probably found a more qualified candidate. Mid and entry level positions pay poorly because they can.

Interview Question – The test was unexpected becuase I used calculators throughout college.   View Answer
